Idea for a build, plz comment.

Post by Suwin Tzi »

I'm going to try a slightly different approach on a new character for Venice.

Pure str bow, but with lightning imbue as primary, and fire for it's buffs. Since bow seems more oriented with having a higher attack rating than a target, the shock effect would be most beneficial to a bow character, than fire with it's higher magic dmg.

Meanwhile, the phy. dmg buffs and mag. def. buff is always welcomed.

I've also noticed on my str glaivesman, that while phy. dmg is higher than mag. dmg, they are relatively close. So though it won't have to pure dmg aspect of a pure int nuker, it might be able to deal some decent dmg.

In place of fire though, I might go with Force to take advantage of extra mp, plus the skills that lower enemy parry and attack rating. Again, this is as a substitute (or I might just SP farm extra hard to get all 3 plus weapon).

So the planned skills for my character at lvl 31 would be...

Bow lvl31
Anti Devil bow Wave lvl 3
3 Arrow Combo lvl 2
White Hawk summon lvl 8
Demon soul Arrow lvl 4
Berserker Arrow lvl 4
Strong bow lvl 1
Mind Concentration lvl 3

Lightning lvl 31
Thunder sky lvl 4
Flow Piercing lvl 2
Grasswalk lvl 7
Shock Lion shout (tentative, gonna see if it works out alright)
Concentration 1st lvl 3
Wolf's thunderbolt (gonna try out when I get there)
Heaven's force lvl 3

Fire lvl 31
Fire shield Flower lvl 2
Flame body Wisdom lvl 3
Basic Fire Protection lvl 8
Flame wave (tentative)
Flame Devil Force lvl 3

(Substitute) Force lvl 31
Heal Med. Hand lvl 9
Soul Rebirth lvl 5
Harmony therapy lvl 3
Vital Spot-Muscle lvl 1
Force increasing lvl 3

To get all these skills at lvl 31, I would need 13772 SP, not bad since most people have farmed 20-30k.

Comment and wish me luck. :D

intyeresting choice, and i think it's a good one. however, you didn't talk at all about how you were going to distribute your stats. pure int? pure str? hybrid, and if so, what type? a friend of mine is experimenting w/ an archer build that focuses on AR and parry as well, and is having lots of success. 10pts to you for a great idea :)

Yeah, pure str, though I think this might work with a 2:1 str or 1:1 hybrid, since bow doesn't have the best phy or mag dmg, just sorta in between.

Right now, my mag dmg is higher than my phy dmg, but I'm thinking it would even out as I get higher in level.

For your glaviesman, the listed dmg between magic and phys might be about the same, but you have to take into account the balance. Eventually your balance will drop to about 20-30%, meaning that though the damages will list the same, you'll only be doing 20% of what you should be.

And while it's only 13k SP at 31, it will be a TON of sp at the higher lvls. More power to you for trying your own build, but I can see this build getting neutered at higher lvls from lack of skill points.

My balance on my glaives man was 94% to 35%, being pure str, without any +int items, but it still accounts for about an extra 100 dmg with my weapon skills.

And yes it's 13k SP at lvl 31, if I choose to lvl with no gap, which I won't. My plan is too keep at least a 4 lvl gap from around lvl 31 to lvl 36, before closing it down to a 2 lvl gap, see if i can get about 20k sp total.

From my personal experience farming, trust me, you want to get as much done as humanly possible as once. After you get X0,000, picking up a thousand or two is nothing. I got to 30k by the flowers. I then raised my masteries to 30, and farmed back to above 30k. Raised masteries to 31, and am on my way back to 30k. At this point, I'm trying to get my masteries as close as I can to my level, and still have that magical 30k. (Yes, virginia, I am a masochist)

i think it did, and i personally hate SP farming.

I don't mind lvling slowly at around lvl 30+, but from 12-20? It's trying my patience. Especially since I remember reaching lvl 20 in about 16 hours.....mrgghh....

If there was an option to buy SP, I'd whip out my card straigt away....

Lightning's agro is like total anti bow.

Bow has garbage AoE skills. Will agro too much if you battle uniques.

argo??

isnt agro wat you call mobs that attack you ??

anyway's
light archer , i like its concept , i also like the fact no one is a light archer

or atleast i havent seen any at lvl 40+

I my self have thought about making one but , i simply cant find the time to start a new char with 3 or 4 mastery tree's again and do all that lvling and farming ,
I still have my 3 way nuker to finish .. :(

I see you plan in taking the peirce force series from lightning

ehm ya if i was you i would not take that skill
your like 30% magic ballance your ganna be getting means your magic damag will become almost nothing ,
spening al that sp on a skill that will eventualy give you mabe 10 extra damage at lvl 31 isnt worth it imo

same goos for shock lion shout , it will do so lil damage for a str char , trust me save those sp's for autum wind flame , thats also an aoe attack thats actualy not as bad as most ppl will want you to believe

also forget about wolfs thunder bolt
you dont want a nuke that costs vital time powering up , only to do 500 damage with it

"lightning aggro" means that the lightning imbue hits any mob that passes close to your target, it can "transfer" to up to 2 mobs at low level on a 1M range, maybe to more mobs afterwards. It means that when you're fighting a hard mob, and are in a zone where usual mobs dont aggro (attack) by themselves, using lightning will make stray mobs attack you while you're already hard-pressed fighting one. It's really a flaw most of the time, although it also can be an advantage when you _do_ want to hit several mobs at a time.
Considering that light is good for INT builds (because of the magic dmg bonus buffs and such), the flaw of lightning damage transfer is even bigger as pure INT builds have few hitpoints. I have a lvl 18 bow-woman, she uses light, cold and fire, but you bet I dont trigger light imbue when I dont want to aggro new mobs. And I'm concerned (she's pure INT) that it will be hard to level up much higher with a lightning build. At least I'll need to have cold as a substitute.
In fact I'm concerned that there is a consensus against pure INT archers... but I already dont have the heart to delete her. Pure INT is always my build of choice in RPGs, and I always find out that it's weak and end up making big brute types. This time in SRO though I have another char, a str fire glavie, lvl 18 also. So if my archer sucks I'm not dead. I'll just have to remake one. I also own a blader but she's lower and I play her more for fun and relaxing from the heavy grinding sessions of the other two.

Hi Suwin,

After our exchanges via PM, I'm glad to see that you are all go ahead with trying your build. The SP calculator site is not working but I do have an alternate site that can give you your SP requirements that you might need. The slight problem is, you have to manually count the total SP you need. Otherwise it is a good alternative to have without using the automated SP calculator.

Site: http://sro.mmosite.com/database/skills.shtml

Bow lvl31
Anti Devil bow Wave lvl 3
3 Arrow Combo lvl 2
White Hawk summon lvl 8
Demon soul Arrow lvl 4
Berserker Arrow lvl 4
Strong bow lvl 1
Mind Concentration lvl 3

Lightning lvl 31
Thunder sky lvl 4
Flow Piercing lvl 2
Grasswalk lvl 7
Shock Lion shout (tentative, gonna see if it works out alright)
Concentration 1st lvl 3
Wolf's thunderbolt (gonna try out when I get there)
Heaven's force lvl 3

I believe with the omission of Strong Bow (and I went with force instead of fire, as you already know), I took more than 13k SP. I'm not sure if anyone realises this, but with the old SP calculator on that nerdwerx site, you are able to click on the respective masteries and a list of all the skills would open.

About the tentative skills you listed, just for the sake of fun, at level 39 with my pure str glavier I got me the fire nuke! :D ...and did a miserable (hehe) 430+ damage on a black robber bowman :P (that was fantastic...hehehe). Disclaimer: I've giving you these info, not to put you down at all but to inform you of the same experiments that I've done before.

Anyways, if you still want to discuss over in PM, I am still open to it. I will you all the best! :)

Heh thanks for the link Kard. My archer is doing quite well btw, and would kill monsters faster if I wasn't trying to SP farm. On my other str characters, I find that I usually do just fine with a 4-2 gap instead of a 9lvl gap (gets boring waaaay too fast).

I will however, try building a str blader based off of the dmg balances you told me about. I'm trying to work out a nice balance where the extra dmg from fire (or lightning, we'll see), will play more than just a simple additive onto total dmg.

Off to mess around and not SP farm!!
