Hacked
Death2U wrote:If we had bad intentions, the effect would have been notice a very long time ago. There's no need to profit from someone's else suffering...
That being said here that is in large part the result of botting. Suffering of those that don't and are just trying to enjoy the game. Though I respect your intentions.
Death2U wrote:botters are humans after all. Also, the list will be kept confidential. If people bot, it's their business. We don't feel that anyone we don't know should wake up one day and have all their items stripped, whether they bot or not.
Well I never asked anyone to strip them even if they deserve it. And botting is not a private thing. If you bot someone knows you do. My only interest is strictly character names. They can keep their login/pass info. 90% of the names on the list I know already anyhow. Just interested in the other 10%.
Death2U wrote:Also, if anyone would like to actually learn something about botting in SRO, now it's a good time to ask. My friend, a professional hacker and a mathematician, plotted the following data he obtained from joymax and the bot server.
Hehe the graph is old news. Though I would say it is rather accurate. Anyone who has actually gone out and hand trained though already intuitively knows what this graph displays. Especially at higher lvls.
Death2U wrote:At higher level, botters greatly outnumbered legits so I believe this is the reason why Joymax is very reluctant to seriously ban high level player botters who buy silk for a reason. Legits are rare today, and many people quit along the way due to long and boring grinding or resort to botting. Higher levels that bots tend to be competitive and buy more silk, which produce the most revenue for Joymax, so if they ban all the botters, they will definitely lose a huge majority of their revenue, and their Joymax's shareholders will not be very pleased. So from a company's perspective, you can't blame Joymax for "not taking action against botters".
Actually you can. These are joymax's own rules they are not following. One could easily argue that to a very real extent botters would also have a tendancy to reduce profits. There are plenty that bot that don't buy silk that don't get banned. It is not all about silk. Between buying their bot time and their gold often times there is not that much that would be left for silk. Regardless of whether or not ticket time would help them level faster. many of them put so little time into their own characters that the slightly slower rate of leveling is hardly noticed and even advantageous. They get more chances to collect SOX and other items to use/sell. Granted if all the botters disappeared over night it would have a noticible impact on joymax's income since joymax has let their legitimate population rot away with neglect. Smaller regular bannings could bring about better balance and actually entice more people to play and buy silk.
Death2U wrote:And also, as I stated before, no further names will be released. I believe people should enjoy the game for what it is and overlook all the negative things about this game (gold farmers, CCFers, scammers, spammers, retards, T***s, etc).
Just play and enjoy the game for what it is and for all the great things that this game has. Even though I quit this game already due to huge time constraints, I do have plans to play again when time allows in the future.
Playing the game and enjoying it for what it is is all a legit can and does do. And if they don't they quit playing. It is the botters you should tell that to.
Anyhow by now we are way OT so I will just leave it at that for this thread.

SuicideGrl, sorry to hear you got hacked. It must be terrible to get hacked and lost everything you've work so hard to build, legitly. I hope you will get back on your feet soon. I will give you 500m if you want. Also let me know what gear(s) you need left so I can hook you up with 8D Sox, and also the level of the wolf you want so I'll get you one the closest to the level you requested. Let me know what specific gears you want and I will put the items/money into a mule account and PM you the login and password for you to retrieve the gold and items. Also PM me the IGN of the person that did this to you and I will see to it that he will suffer the same fate.borat2 wrote:so any news on how it was done or still just speculations?

deReida, A professional hacker I know broke the encryption key and hacked into the isro bot server about a couple of months ago, and I could have sworn I seen your name in that list, along with many I recognized.
Below is a couple of high levels in Xian that use(d) a bot, and their sensitive information starred out. There are currently 2,381 unique IGNs in Xian have have a record in the bot server.

I randomly pasted a few records from the bot server. I don't play in Xian so I don't know any of the people above. Based on my experience, there are mainly three types of botters. The first type are the people who bot hardcore and make it no secret to anyone. The second type bot only after a cap raise, then stop botting until there's another cap raise. These are the people that are normally anti-botters and take a fierce anti-botting stance in a forum to pretend to be who they are not. The third type are casual botters who only bot only if they are near the computer to make sure no one will catch them in the act. The other types of botters normally lie inbetween those. People ends up on the bot server database ONLY if they downloaded a bot and run it, so don't say "OMG you are wrong he never bots"... you'd never know that unless you are THAT person.
SuicideGrl, however, wasn't in the database, so he didn't get hacked because of botting.
Also, I will not post the whole bot list so don't ask. I have nothing against botters as I have friends in this game who happen to be botters also. There are also many people on this forum that bot (about half), which will be kept as confidential information. Some botters are actually great and nice people from my experience.
dude from where you got this? you are saying that you can hack al the botters in all the servers?????

So D2A if your friend can hack the bot database (which i still doubt) he is able to retrieve all data from users of isrobot.
So this means if a can find me a good cracker who is willing to do this i can like strip all bot-player accounts? Or reveal them to the public/cheering audience?
Pfft i would know what to do... And yes i'm as legit as can be not a wannabe legit (IGN Pout, server Athens)
OT:
Well SG praise yourself lucky that you have that many people supporting you !!! Imagine all those that get hacked who have not that much luck, they must go through the roof :/

not all botters use isro bot, still have to count tbot and softmod users.

D2A, do feel free to take any bears/ducks in xian you find. Unlike some, those botters DO deserve to have stuff taken from them and spread around the server. The bot blatantly, and brag about it. They buy sosuns, ccf, anything illegit that joymax doesn't care about? They do it.

Sorry to hear what happened SG.....happened to me about a month ago on my first ever character - only level 42 but it still killed me after months of legit grinding - they left me stuff only taking 20mil, wolf, SOx, rudolphs, bunch of misc stuff but most everything else was there (probably would have come back to get the rest dunno) but I feel your pain (not on your level or even close) but the whole hack invasion of privacy, stealing feeling.....I am having a ton of fun starting with a new character and build and with Euro coming timing might be good for starting something new.

As i see it youll need an Super mod acc to hack this page with an exploit.
And i dont think that ull get the pw from one of them. Expect he trusts you then you could send him a trojan/keylogger.
a pw must be large
with letters/numbers .. normally with special things like . _ *
well, any1 used a bruteforce thing to get it, I dunno

someone i had banned remade an account and PMed a link to the mods, saying it was a stand-alone version of rev6's "server status" applet. someone had to see if it was safe for public consumption.
it wasn't.
Wait.. what do you mean server status applet.. is that the link where you see how many players are on each server? If so, I'm changing my PW as soon as I'm done wiht this post.
I'm sorry for your loss, if I were on Xian I would hook you up with some nice crap. For all the work you've put into SRF, you deserve it, but don't deserve the hacking.

Its been forever since ive been here. Since i quit sro awhile ago, before all the botting began. Back when Xian used to be fun, back when sg was a tad bit lower level
But, anyways SG, WOW i honestly never thought that this would happen. When i finally came back to the forums, i was looking forward to seeing posts from moogie, and you, and some of the other old SD and BH members.
I stumbled upon this post, and thought to myself, "no way. this is a joke right?" Seems its not, i really had retired from SRO shortly after the cap was raised for the first time. Thats about when all the botting began. The game was no longer fun for me, all my friends turned to bots.
But man, i remember back when we had the first Xian pvp fight. Remember we all tried to organize fight night. Created a circle pit and watched you go at it.
Man the good old days, now there gone :/...
**edit**
i dont think ill return to silkroad, not many people know me because i never really made my presence known in SRO. But i really remained at close watch on these boards, and seen mostly everyone of you in the game. The EURO update just looks like garbage to me, its silkroad trying to be what every other asian mmo tries to do. Become more like the original mmo's, UO, everquest (which i was a member of for 8-9 years), and others.

@D2A: i understand why you posted what you did, but this board isn't for accusations, regardless of what their supposed origins are.
as to the rest of your post, PM me on here, and we will talk further.
as it stands now:
i am back in BH, though i still have not secured my account. the gear i am wearing (eww, garms! yucky!) is borrowed, though it's my spear. my wolf Saberath couldn't make it to the pic, he was napping in Soldier_y's storage.
we are keeping SG connected 24/7 so no more harm can come to her. let's hope i get this resolved soon.

im dunno, but how does the email verification solve SG's prob? how exactly does it work anyway? i have seen email verifs elsewhere before but im not sure if JM intends to do it the same.
so lets say you want to change pw, you login your with your old pass, then click on a new 'change pw' button which sends an email to your registered email? then what?
honestly the secret answer is screwing up alot of legit players because many of them are old birds who created their acct right at the beginning and many either forgot their secret answer or have forbidden chars in them. i know of players who have never once changed their pw for the whole 18mths they've played, because they simply couldnt
