Blader Switch - Your Thoughts?

Post by fena »

Glavier -> Blader?

I just wanted to gather the opinion of some of you SRF'ers out there, about my wanting to switch from a Glavier to becoming a Blader.
My current status is that I'm a L65 Pure STR Glavier, farming on PEG's in the Caves. I have Mastery Points into Heuksal, Lightning, and Fire. 56, 46, and 56, respectively.
Glaviers are BORING. In PvE, I just spam Flying Dragon Fly, SSS, and then Prince. Then SSS, and another Prince. Rinse and repeat until dead. In PvP, I just spam SSS and Prince. Nothing else. Because for a Glavier, that's all you have to do. Boring. Don't flame me, because that's just my personal opinion - I know that many of you other Glaviers out there may disagree, so just keep in mind that this is my personal opinion. I find that Bladers are much more fun, especially with the hella sexy chains. :P
So should I delevel Heuksal and put the points into Bicheon? I'll be doing it with Skill Edit Points, from the Item Mall - Silk is no object, but keep in mind that I COULD be using the Silk elsewhere, perhaps for a better purpose, so that's certainly something to consider. Although I don't mind spending it, it still could, in your opinion, be spent elsewhere for a better cause. Perhaps for a monkey. Perhaps for a PT. It'll cost me more than $50 to delevel Heuksal and put it into Bicheon.
If you have any knowledge of the PvP status concerning Bladers and Glaviers in regards to the 90 Cap, take that into consideration at well - if Bladers seem to be severely, SEVERELY gimped come the 90 Cap, then that's certainly something that I have to think about as well. On the same note, if Glaviers only get better, and completely dominate at the 90 Cap... then, yeah. :P PvP is certainly a big aspect of SRO for me, as well as jobbing. PvE... not really. I don't know many people that actually love the long grind.

So, what are your thoughts? Should I stay a Glavier? Or switch to a Blader? Bladers are tankers. Glaviers are more built towards being a damage-dealer, although that's more a Nuker's job.
So... what? Opinions, please - although only if you're sure what you're talking about. :)
And above all, please, no flames. Not towards me, my wanting to switch, nor towards anyone elses comment that they might post in regards to this thread - I'd like some constructive feedback or reasons why I should or should not switch. Not flames. Those don't get any of us anywhere.

Thank you, guys. :)

I have neither been a glaive or blade character past lvl 30, so my opinion on the build is irrelavent.

About the silk though. If you are going to do it via the item mall, might i suggest to only delevel the skills\mastery to lvl 40-45ish using skill reallocation pots because after that, the money you will be paying will not be worth the small amount of sp you will get back.

So if your going to use the item mall, only use it to lvl 40-45ish then do the rest via cursed hearts over time.

I agree and you can keep your heuksal passive at 30 or 40 for the extra HP.

I was glavier till lvl42...then i switched to blade...and, yay, i'm happy with that. Now i'm lvl51..and as a tanker, i can play pvp as i want...i don't need to use only few skills, i can experiment with different skills, chains, kd, stabs, chains again and other shet.
When i'm blader, game just turned into a fun game...even be annoying is fun (who pvp vs bladers i think know how they can be annoying).
And pve...umm, so fun now. KD few monsters, stab for one, stab for second one, chain, chains

And i don't know how it is on other servers...but on RedSea we have tons of glaviers, and, thats the reason why i swithed to blade, because i think bladers are the very rare build, well, atleast on RedSea. So, when you are a blader, you are a lil bit unique :)

if you wanna switch to blader i advice you to farm with your glavie char first... blader is so damn slow to farm with and you need the most sp with it - but ye its the funniest build;P

It's 5 Skill Reallocation Points for 28 Silk, I believe. :/ Expensive.

Thanks for your opinions, everyone. Now I'm kinda considering going for Bow. :P Thoughts? Fun? More fun than a Glavier?

EllisD, I actually was planning on that, TBH. Was going to delevel my Heuksal until around 30ish, though. Sounds alot more realistic, though. Thanks.
