Defensive Skills

Are they worth it? I'm a pure INT build and ive skipped all the defensive skill and havent realy had any problems so far (lvl20), are they nesecary for later?

Can you please define "Defensive skills" adequately enough for us to be able to give you a complete answer, that will satisfy your question?

By defensive skills, are you talking about the ice buffs? If so, I would say it depends on your build. If ice is your main or secondary elemental force then I would say sure, defense never hurt. But, if you are fire/light then do not bother.

No like the ones like castle sheild (which i know is pointless),fire sheild phenoix, basic fire protection, weak guard of ice, crystal wall (which i heard is pointless unless your an archer), and bloody fan storm.

Fire shield phoenix - maybe, depends on how much sp you got. Fighting white spiders I can use one pill with it, otherwise I would use two (or have to buy the next better pill). So it does save gold. Also, theoretically, if you had on enough % reduce jewelery and had fire shield phoenix you may become immune to status effects without even having to pill.

Basic fire protection - maybe, I would get it if you have the sp. But since you're already pure int, you have pretty good mag defense. This would give you an extra edge when fighting other nukers.

Weak guard of ice - yes. You're pure int, you need all the defense help you can get. If you're really gonna do it though, you want to go all the way to Lv60 with it. Why? Because from Lv58 to Lv60, the magnitude of the phy def buffs in cold double.

Crystall Wall - up to you. It is pointless unless you're an archer . . . or nuker (aka pure int). You can still fire nukes from inside it, so it will be helpful against pure str glaives and blades. But against a pure str archer they have more range, so if you throw up crystal wall they can just stay outside your range and make you move. If you have tons of sp, go for it. If you don't have tons of sp, you're probably better off spending your sp elsewhere.

Castle shield and bloody fan storm - No. But I have no direct expereince using them, so maybe I'm missing something.


In the end, you're only Lv20 . . . you're too low level to really notice the difference when using fire protection and guard of ice. But the higher you go, the more evident it becomes they do make a difference.

Also, your current masteries and amount of sp effect your decision. If cold is already one of your main masteries, you should get definitely get guard of ice and the passive. But say it's not and you have low sp . . . then it's probably not worth it since you'll need your sp later for your other masteries.

i just thought about, crystall wall might be useful for int chars when fighting giants? im not sure :)

no , the crystall wall has like 0 def and only 2k hp , two hits and it's gone. takes too much time to cast it aswell.
Well you've got me thinking anyway , perhaps for an unique, you'd just have that bit of extra health that can save you from a new spawn... I donno not an int
