Yeah usually but im not too up on NC state laws about it. But either way if they did actaully get in then yeah i would use force. The shotgun i will have it but it wont be beside my bed, be in my closet. But we had a issue with some gang members after my brother so i still sleep with a knife, axe, machete, and the hickory handle. Well thanks for the tips guys, if they come over tonight well feel sorry for them my brother will be drunk so no telling what they will do.

Shotguns may not be the best for home defense if people are living with you, for the fact that the spray will go through them and the walls.
But for someone with only a decent amount of gun skills, a shotgun will work.

You can do whatever you want if they come on your property without your permission but you can;t set up traps for them...and i'd just call the police

For the last 13 years I've lived with at least one Rottweiler if not two of them and I've never locked a single door in the house..By far the best security system you can have. Plus they're cuddly.

This was my baby that just died but he would've stopped most anyone that had bad intentions.

something else to talk to the police about. Most of the time people are killed or injured by their own gun, thru an accident or the offender getting it first. Especially if you don't know how to handle it. Knives and bats are a bad idea in genreal.
