Hybrid: Sword or Spear?

WEll how the title says im doing a new char that would be hybrid but i have a problem, KDSword or Spear???
i was thinking in lvling wiht spear and in high lvl, lvlup bicheon but still dunt know....What u say i do that or start with S/S?

Usually Pure ints are s\s because they value the extra defence of the shield immensly, as well as the extra 5 int and 5 str that can be added to it. A critical block can turn the tides of any fight.

Hybrid ints are usually the spear users. They get a little more HP by going hybrid along with the HP passive in the spear\glaive tree.

Personally, if your set on going Hybrid INT, take a spear for the higher damage. Hybrid INT swords have a harder time killing because sword damage < spear damage

I see it this way. The Spears extra STR = The swordsman's shield. The Sword's extra INT = the spears extra damage.
That's why hybrid Int's should choose spears and pure (or minimmum 90% mage balance) INT's choose a Sword&Shield.

Against popular belief, sword is better.

It's conisdered a pro build by many pros

People are like "hybrids hp is sword block."

Yeah, well whatabout you have extra hp and block. Then you can't die, and you do loads of damage.

I regret changing to spear, s/s is the way to go.

It's all upto you. If you want to be able to survive, go hybrid s/s. If you want to be able to survive, but not quite as much, go hybrid spear.

Sword and shield most definitely. Since you're a hybrid and don't have max HP due to your lack of strength, you need a shield to compensate for that with its blocking and extra blues. A spear hybrid can get dropped so fast with lower HP and no block ability.

becease i like heuksal skills but nuking too

so i want to be int hybrid spear....and well soul and petal are very lethal

I would say that and only that:
S/S= Better than Spear in PVP
Spear= Better than S/S in PVM
The rest is all by your ideas... What u prefer, What u look when play sro, and most of all what u think cooler xD

i would say go spear. you will have higher damage and you get the passive hp skill thing. which makes up for the missing shield.

Thats true dude, i used to think like that too.. but since i tryed a spear, i cant see how it can be that good, because alright ur a fking beast, but u get outdamaged in one stun

Not with s/s, if u get the right balance its so amazing, because kd and stabs do more than pure int' kd's and stabs and even more than their nukes, and ur nukes are still alright, and u can go through almost two stuns in a row without dieing (without any blocks, cause if u get one than u can go through two stuns in a row without problems

It mostly depends on ur gear tho...
Pure str with shitty gear=alright
Pure int with shitty gear=its hp fking suks but its dmg is still gd
Hybrid with shitty gear=shitty character in everything

So make sure you know rlly well how to play the game, make money etc.
Cause you're gonna need some rlly good equips if you wanna be a gd hybrid

I say you should grow with your character. If you level with spear skills, and switch to sword, you will be lost.

Hybrid swords are good, just like hybrid spears. I have played one almost identical to the knock down nuker guide by Mcaruu in the sticky.
It is a great build. You don't even need the ice passive that he recommends.

Also if you go sword, you can still grind with spear, Just use nukes and lion shout.
