Or selling templates...
C'mon me needs idea's! ^^
Selling templates works.
My little borther(11 at the time) had a small site like that with a dude, with the same name(and same age I believe). It wasn't anything special, but they did have a customer. Once. xD
Anyway, there aren't many sites outthere that sell templates, and if you're good at it, you might actually make some money. Don't expect to get tons though.

I did freelance webdesign for many years. Now it's very hard to pierce into the market, there's too many corporations and design groups that just eat up the demand.
It's almost like the industrialisation of webdesign, all the small shop owners had to close down for the huge factories.
You'll never get good at it unless you enjoy it, I used to make a website a day to practice my coding and design. It makes it easy if you design often because every time you can just make a "portfolio" website and put all your previous websites on it.
Thus, my suggestion is: make a "portfolio" website and keep remaking it to practice.

+1
I'm freelancing as well. not that hard too find customers atm in holland, there's a lot of demand too compensate for the lot of companies. Though i usually reject everything atm, im swamped in work and school.
The portfolio thing is a +1. I used to do that, but kinda stopped, need to make new one now.
