It is the view that Zerk bow > Autumn in most bow guides. I do share the view that the Autumn damage is as good as a devil, without the crits, which is hell of a big difference in terms of skill choice.
The thing that makes this skill shine is in a situation where you are mobbed by 3-6 mobs. In cases where you are having giant and some champions in your face where couple of nosy mobs seems to think you have a short life - I tend to switch skills from:
devil > imbue > combo > zerk > shout; to
autumn > imbue > combo > zerk > shout
The above have managed to save my piece of Hybid Int bow many times as the AOE would shine from Autumn to break down the mobs while the focus is still on the gaint. 2 more AOE from zerk and shout manage to do the job well in a mobbed situation.
It is a matter if you can spare the SP - Autumn can be a good additional AOE skill to make or break the day PvE.
A point to add, where you are focusing on AOE skills to kill off the annoyance, there are times where some mobs are hitting your puppy. Select the follow command for the puppy to draw him and the mobs towards you (which is weird that most time it is biting the mob's arse) and hit the AOEs like you life depends on it - in most cases, for an INT hybrid, it could be a pretty life and death situation. Hahaha!
Lion Shout is a viable PvE skill for an INT, STR bow may just be able to tank 5 - 6 mobs well without the need of additional AOE skills - just another choice perhaps.
Well, it's certainly in reach to do like:
2 chain one mob, target another one, when the first has reached you and is behind/in front of you regarding the arrow trajectory towards the next target. Then, fire autumn wind. Pick up another mob with the anti-devil. When you have three mobs, Demon + Devil.
If you have SP to spare, it might just be worth it.
MrFudge wrote:your problem is that you are a hybrid int bow.
us pure str bowmen see no appeal in this skill as it is close to the same damage as antidevil WITHOUT the crit increase.
disgusting.
1. Read the last para of the original post
2. Being an INT hybrid bow has never been a problem
3. STR bow do get mobbed, Lion Shout is out of the question, the other option is Autumn; did say if you can afford the SP, something to consider.
Its all fine if 2 gaints and 5 - 6 mobs on you and you have zerk bow to make things cute. I will put my money on the fact that a STR char will KO or run. My sucky hybrid bow can only level +4 mobs so I do not know if STR bow's umber tanking can hold to what level.
4. Would not have replied if I do not see "disgusting", what is so disgusting about discussions and ideas? This is a discussion forum, either you come in with an open mind or constructive comments else just act like what your name suggest - Fudge off the thread.

It does more damage and has a farther splash range then bezerker arrow.
Nub at 34 farming at 9 gaps? Perhaps a choice before I get my mastery up to lvl 30 for nukes, which is very possible:P
glavie,
I understand you are a 2:1 INT, does the nukes really matter or bow skills are still the primary?
Well I am trying the 70:70 build. With a lot of int on my gear I have around a 86% mag balance. Before I had nukes i got the first book of autumn wind. It was frustrating to me when if the mob wasn't standing in just the right spot it wouldn't hit him. I tried the lightning nuke and found that if my bezerker arrow does 1.6-1.8k damage my nuke does around 1.8-2.1k damage. The lightning nuke does more damage to the secondary mob, and has a farther transfer range. If they are right on top of me, It can(not often) hit a mob in front and back with the lightning nuke.
I would not call it a primary skill for this build but It is very useful for grinding and mob control on trade runs. If I was a str hybrid or pure str I would have autumn wind for sure, but I can do without it for now.
How much damage does the lion shout do? I always thought we were to hybrid for it to be of any use so I never tried it.
lvl 65 4gap 84:84 bow inactive. GOLD GUIDE Just Read It

I am a pure str bower and I can tank more then a hybrid bower I figure =|. Simply cause I have more HP? Grinding Nachals now and sometimes I take up to 8 or so on my ass and they dont get close in killing me.
But I like the autum wind arrow, but I aslo like to get mobbed figure those 2 thinks link.
Here's how I use autumn wind:
Anti-Devil -> Combo, *walk a bit, so that mob is behind you; target another mob* -> autumn wind -> Anti-devil -> finish off both with explosion.
using autumn wind to its fullest potential requires a little more thought and timing the attack. using it just like any other direct attacks is just a pure waste.
i've read some bow guides saying autumn wind isnt helpful and to level it only if u got the spare sp. i used to believe that before i learnt how to use it well. now ... i feel that autumn wind is essential especially if u wanna kill fast.
for pvp ... autumn wind may not be as big a help .... i use it to fill in between combos and antidevil.

yeah ... however u use it ... the idea is u wanna get as many mobs stick to u as possible (though 3 mobs is the the limit in getting the effect). the light imbue with the transfers really helps in this case. that's why i was prepared to ditch the fire tree along with all the goodies and go light/ice. ice for the 2nd imbue on mobs as crystal wall pvp. i dun even think i got the ice buff yet ... since i'm pure str and dun really need that yet ... will probably level that up later.
