Recent events with LEVELME!

Post by ҳ̸& »

Sorry if i am breaking the rules as the other topic was locked due to a certain statement. Well i thought i would reply to some of the posts that were there to give you some kind of idea of who we are and what we are doing.

* amount of experience needed to level
* amount of exp / SP gained by quests
* drop rates
* difference in strenght between levels

Yes these will be fully editable.

They'd need a license from Joymax to host their own private SRO server. Sure, it can be done, but you need a license. If they don't have one, and Joymax finds out, I'm sure they'd sue. So if it does get put up, I don't think it will last long. Just long enough to possibly get some people's account info, the ones that are dumb enough to use the same logon info as they use in the real iSRO.

The way the emulator is coded we have encrypted the passwords stored in the database. So even if some one did create a account on a Private server using the same details as the offical servers, you wont be able to just open your database and view it and have some one elses account. The encryption was created by us so no it wont be a simply MD5 encrpytion or anything.

Well .. I can't prove it as like Pure said I don't have their ss's anymore sigh. And their site is gone obviously.

But it's irrelevant in the end. I for one will not be expecting this current emu to come out. If it does they'd try to make money some way or the other.

I understand where you are coming from with not expecting a release, this has been tried before but we are different as for the money making we only offer a subscription fee (optional) for our members on our forum, this helps with running the forum as said its a 100% optional dont want it? dont pay but you will still be able to download the emulator.

On further news, we have coded the emulator our selves. Thus for the name emulator it emulates the offical server software. Its coded from scratch in Delphi. We have not taken any code from Joymax... We will release the emulator for the intent of offline use only if you choose to run a worldwide server which kills the offical servers you are held responsible =p

We of course will offer guides and support if you require any additional help.

The whole emulation thing is kinda a grey area im positive it is illegal to run a server but developing the software im not so sure about.

Also if we find any private server charging monthly fees for people to play we will do something about it, donations are fine but you never take a F2P game and use an emulator to make it P2P.

Questions will be answered if you have any...

Reguardless of you codeing the emulator yourselves, in order to run the game correctly you will have to haveaccess to SRO's source code, which you will not get. So the emulator being self coded doesnt really matter. You will never be able to make a private server without stealing the origional owners code. For example : WoW Private Servers, they are not hand coded, the majoriety of it is sorce code that was ripped from the game. 2nd example R.O.S.E Online Private servers, Also the code has been ripped from the game.

That being said, I sincerly do not think this project will take off. As getting to the SRO source code is much harder than those 2 games I listed. (the source code was leaked by someone inside Blizzard, and the company that ran R.O.S.E. So unless someone from Joymax leaks the source gg.

With all respect - I don't think you know how emulators can be coded. I believe you have read a few posts from around the web and decided stealing source code is the only way in which emulators are made.

This is not true.

Yes it can be said that taking code does lead to emulators but what is more accurate is that people with a good knowledge of network structure can create servers from scratch just by monitoring how the packets are sent and their structure. I work on the server team and I can assure you we have no code stolen from Joymax and yes - we can get in game.

Show me a video of you guys "in-game" Show me some screenshots of your emulation interface. Until then I wont belive nothing (last time I believed in a SRO Emu it turned out to be a huge hoax and a joke, so dont take these comments as rude.)

Don't start flaming each other again. You've shared your opinions, now drop it before this thread gets locked as well. You people are worse than an old married couple.

For those of you who have little clue on computer sciences, what this group is trying to do is something called black box coding. In any type of system, as long as you know fully the outputs of a system based on the inputs, you know the system. You don't need to know whats inside the box or how its implemented.

So what an emulator does is take in inputs from the client and return the appropriate output back to the client. The group can know most of the inputs and outputs by probing the packets sent and received from the official servers. But that's still the biggest challenge: to know exactly how the server would react for all situations.

In other words, no source needed, but the process is very slow and buggy.

wow, i wouldn't even want a private server. I would be satisfied with my own offline version to try out different builds at lvl cap and all the skills.
Plus, making movies would be nice with it ^^

For those that think you have to use official code to make private server, check out the AuRose team. They have coded it completely from scratch, and are nearly done. SevenHearts, Ruff-Rose, and AruaRose are all stolen binaries of official, only thing is, gravity/triggersoft can't prove that, so they can't sue for that. They can't sue for making money. Sure, they take donations, and give a little item for thanks. Completely legal.

If these guys have coded it from scratch, and have a donation system, then theirs will be legal too. If they make theirs p2p though, JoyMax can smack them with the law, and hard.

SRO's Official Website wrote:The server system processed in the parallel decentralization can simultaneously accommodate a large group of users without fail and offer the more fresh game by virtue of minimized loading time.

That suggests each SRO "server" is actually multiple computers to handle different gameplay stuff. There might be a monster location and respawning server and another server for processing character data changes and relaying it to the master database and obviously a seperate silk sales and management server and maybe a captcha generating server so I seriously doubt anyone would be able to afford to release a private server version of SRO for free. I mean they'd have to own multiple super powerful servers that are just kinda sitting there doing nothing at the moment so what the heck, let's run SRO Server on em lol.
That's what makes it different from the Runescape private server version that I helped work on :P you could use your own computer as a runescape server for yourself and dozens of friends cuz it took such low resources.

Btw what happened with them was Jagex (the runescape makers) sued and sued and sued and threatened and got sites discussing and offering it shut down and last I heard the project died. So yeah ban this guy and delete his post before Joymax comes after you. Runescape private servers were offered FOR FREE, if these guys are making money off Joymax's game, this shit will hit the fan twice as hard.

Also if you sign up for a private server with the same username and password, they'll steal your real account. That's why they're stressing the fact that passwords are encrypted in their own database (people stress lies the most)

I might as well dispell their "from scratch, Joymax can't sue" thing too. Here's how software licensing works. You agree to the license when you install it and if you break it, you can't use it anymore. Joymax's license probably says you have to download updates. One of the updates could make it incompatible with their server side code so they'd have to force people to use an old client. That breaks the EULA and Joymax has the legal right to force anyone doing it to not use their software anymore. So EVERYONE can get sued lol. Plus like 100 other charges they're faced with like copyright infringement, illegal use of art and trademarks, etc etc etc

that happened with RS and still none of the server side code worked very well at all lol

Oh yeah and his entire post is one giant advertisement

Well im following this "on the feet". And i can say that they are "stuck" (or have diffuculty) with the movement/talk and skills system.

Running a server is nothing more then software that controls the whole sro server. So maby there are more servers for exampel Xian. But those servers can be coded in 1 singel program.

Next, i dont care if its legit or illigal anymore. Sro Private servers are the future. :D

So we will see what this brings. Or its one BIG HOAX or there are realy taking this seriously and i'll hope they find the movement/talk engine :)

Dam, i love you sro developer, best of luck man.
I have one question, when we get the emulator (hopefully we will :D), does that mean we will be able to "create" our own server offline, meaning that we could make 90 lvl chars in couple mins to try out build!?????? zomg!

- 9D stuff is plosible
- LVL max is 140. Im not sure what its gonna do when you enter a higher lvl.
- You can make your own character. Just edit the character in the database, load it and you r ready

Personal im waiting to spawn Lord yarkan with a couple of mates and bashing him, that would be awesome :D
