I love competition.
Bots + gold buyers = HARDCORE competition :)

1. I won't live to be 80 haha
2. I still manage to play this game and hang out with friends and skateboard and a lot of other stuff I don't feel like listing lol.
3. Uhh yeah that's it, too lazy to read over main post again. : /

Excellent point. But what if the kid was spending his time doing charity work?

Its safe to say that is "Extremely" rare these days. Your throwing out alot of "what if questions" some like your charity work comment less then 1% of the population would do even if there were NO computers.

Just like others have stated your version of having a life is going to be different then others. Its a two sided argument.

To say someone has no life because they are doing something they enjoy is crazy.

Example 1: Someone who plays silkroad has no life, but someone who goes out partying has a life.

Example 2: Someone who goes out partying has no life, but someone who goes to college has a life.

As you can see one form of no life can be another form of having a life. Its a no win argument.

You can go to college and still party. It's called balance. :D

I don't give a shit about balance though. My life is total destruction. O_o

What isn't "waste of life"?

You work hard to get yourself a nice Porshe and flat-screen telly. Fancy clothes and a big house. You can't take this materia to grave.
Buy a golden cross to hang on your neck. Go to church and worship your deity and pray for a better tomorrow.
When death comes, its Game Over. No top scores. No hall of fame,
Just a grave with your name on it.

For me, money is just a tool to stay alive.
For me, religion is just a way to turn your back to death.
For me, gathering materia is just a way to keep oneself occipied until the illusion of "ultimate destination"

Life is not about the destination, its about the journey.
As long as one enjoys his stay, he can spend his time collecting stamps or whatever he likes.

Peace.

FenaCorp wrote:Pertaining specifically to SRO, many of you complain about the game, it's poor management, the botters, jerks, gold-buyers... why do you stay with it? You grind hard, you grind even harder, you play 6-7 hours a day, there goes your summer – and still, you see the botters rush past you, to 80, fully farmed, and own you in PvP with a gold-bought SoSun 64+9 Glavie.

How is this different than real life really? May be you're a young guy and haven't worked much. Real life is also full of poor managers that are above you. There are botters, jerks, gold-buyers too in real life; they're the rich kids with the Bimmers that their parents bought them; they could afford IV league schools, while you go to some crap hole State university... and still they get better jobs then you in real life with their "connections" (all this is like getting own in PvP, but with their money bought degrees from famous schools and a nice car to pick up chicks, instead of a sosun). So you grind 6-7 hours a day in SRO while the sun is shining outside; most people work in 9 to 5 jobs in an office, most don't like their jobs; at least you like playing the game, don't you??? OK, may be I was generalizing a bit; not all rich folks are that bad; just most

For some, there are also the 'real life' interaction with people who are also playing game; that's pretty real... more real than your co-workers or some guy in school who happens to be in the same lecture hall.
