I was able to buy some sos and was wondering if i should + them and/or put int/str tabs for higher resale value. your thoughts pls. also if you can share ur thoughts on prices as well. tnx a lot!!

I would probably +3 them at least. After that its up to you. Int/str is a big gamble as you could lose a lot as well as make a lot.

tnx soda, i was think about +3 but if the would be about 15-20 elixir each, then my gain goes down the drain that's why im hesitant in alchemy. btw, im using som sword 32 and sos shield, do I pimp them at this lvl or just wait until 6d or even higher? meaning just use them as is?

Silver Shield: Low BR, low whites, low blues: don't bother, sell for about 5M

Iron Bow: Terrible crit and whites, low blues: don't bother, sell for 8M

Frost Sword: Great whites, crit doesn't matter: Add int 100% and get it to +3. Sell for 5M.

Lightning Glavie: Okay crit, good whites except for Phys Attack, Str 100%: Fix the phys attack and go for +4 once, if you fail, just get it back to +3. Sell for 6M.

Sharp Sword: Bad whites, no decent blues: don't bother, sell for 1.5M

I would pimp the som's first cause they will make ya alot more money. get better phys% and crit for bow and mag% for sword. add str and int to sword and int to bow...sell better with more blues. +3 at least and if ya got a prem or know someone ya trust +4 them. Then ya will have enough to easily fix up sos as mentioned in previous post. since your short on cash ya might want to sell a sos to be able to properly do the som's...fixin white stats can be a pain sometimes.

im thinking like this:
1. + som sword & bow first (to 3 ), then add INT/STR.
2. fix crit on bow, (do i need to fix crit on sword even if nukers don't really need crit?)

You have alot of sos/som for someone who has never done alchemy, and doesn't knows what they are worth. So I hope those were given to you buy a friend or something.

This is how it works for 6D sos items and below. In order of importance.

People pay for a pretty glow(weapon), everyone can see it(+3= white glow).
Next are good blues(again they are pretty) More blue lines the higher the price.
and last are good white stats.

Do not waste the money you do not have to use stones. You will spend over that mill you have on just the bow.

You will use roughly 6 elixers per item to +3 it.

Som is different, that bow could be used for farming at the horses. Definitly + it. Maybe add some blues and hope the crit gets assimilated up. Otherwise leave it alone.
If you want to see how alchemy works and what your odds are, do alchemy on the gear you will actually use. Then you will see first hand how expensive but sometimes rewarding it can be.

@glavie, no they were not given to me. im in persia so sos items are not that expensive to come buy. lvl 24 sos ranges about 1.5m to 2.5m while i got the som sword for 4m. the som bow was traded for the sos glavie +2 coz the guy was a glavier and i guess he didn't want to stall it for a couple of days. i started on persia on day 1, made a couple of trade runs when i reached lvl 20 (1*) and there were no poppers then, i was pur str glavier so higher lvl npc thieves couldn't pop me . it was easy money, just ran with a camel back to back to back to back, easy 300k profit (lvl 30) for a couple of mins.

also, while on that glavier, i got 2 sos drop, lvl 8 blade & lvl 24 blade, sold them, and bought some cheap elixirs, about 90-100k each, sold them for about 130k each a couple of weeks after. then i realized i wasn't lvling as fast and got ks'd most of the time by pure ints, so i rerolled as pur int 9 gap from lvl 9 to 26 (took me about 2-3 weeks, no gt). continued with buy low elixirs & selling them higher, made some lvl 3 & 4 stones as well. basically, i got to use the sos bow at 24 & now using the som sword. im thinking that with 90 cap & server getting older, more ppl will come in later so i started collecting sos weapons.

when i was playing in red sea, SG told me not to bother with alchemy on 4-5d gears since they would cost alot and generally be sold at a loss and i won't be using them THAT long. hence i never really got a chance to pimp gears. but now, since im "saving" them for a lil longer and hoping that prices would go up, im thinking of pimping them and sell them and probably use the gold to buy some 6-8d sox items on the way.

How old is your server, If a large number of people aren't 60+ then your economy will be completely different then what I am used 2.

On an aged server what I say holds true. In most cases you would be better off selling elements or stones then trying to alchemize gear of that lvl.

On aege a lvl 16 sos weapon sells for about 1.2 mill plain. +3 with max int and str it sells for about 2.5mill. Unless you have really really good luck you cannot add int, str, and plus for that kind of money. I blue all my gear even low lvl, but if I sell it I take a loss. Even 8D items are a toss up on if it is cheaper to buy it blued or blue it yourself.

Oh and I went through about 16 challenge stones at my lvl 32 som bow. The crit started out at 5 and went all the way up to 7. Challenge stones that lvl sell for about 600k on my server.
Thats 9.6mill on trying to fix the crit.
At least with blues, once the line of blue is there you can't loose it.

Oh and prices will go up on those low lvl items after an event. The thanksgiving event gave poor people 1mill job suits that they could npc for 440k each. That caused prices to rise to around 5mill.

First re: the prices I quoted for for Oasis. It sounds like Persia has lower prices generally. In oasis, I consider SOS 24 at 2M and SOS 32 at 6M to be a baseline, a good starting point. Adjust depending on what Persia's baseline seems to be. That being said, I wouldn't buy an SOS 32 Bow with 0% Phys and Mag attacks and 0% Crit for 5.5M (there was one selling for that price yesterday).

Second re: fixing Crit or BR. I've found these to be extremely difficult to fix. I've used 20 BR stones (not exagerating) on my shield and never had anything but 14 or 15. Likewise, I had 25% Crit on my blade that I wanted to up a bit. It went down to 0% and stayed there for 10 stones, while assimilating my Phys and Mag attack. You can imagine how ugly this thing looked with all those zeros. I couldn't give it away (well, sell it for super cheap anyway). Then, in the span of 5 stones, I got the crit back to 25% got the Phys attack to 60% and the Mag attack to 40%. Now its a nice blade again, except that I re-assimilated the Mag attack down to zero adding Str and Int but at least I have 100% Str and Int. So now I go back and fix the Mag attack, but as a blader, it can wait. Also, the blade is +5.

My guildmate has spent over 20 stones trying to up the crit on his bow and has never been over 4. It started at 25% and I told him not to mess with it, but would he listen? lol.

I relate those experiences just to highlight the ups and downs of alchemy.

My rule of thumb is, if you are going to use the item yourself, pimp it as much as you want. I have a full SOS+3 5th deg Garm set with full blues. It's my hobby to get rid of every white zero in the set. I take almost no mag damage from mobs my level. I can grind for 3 hours with 5 hp pots. Will I make my money back when I sell the set? No. I'll probably have lost 10M pimping it. Was it worth it? Hell yeah, I love my gear.

If you are pimping gear to resell, you need to pay close attention to the market. Figure out what is the highest you can sell the item for and is it worth it? On Oasis, a low crit (25%) sos 16+3 bow with average blues sells for around 12M. If you take it to +5 you can get 16M. That's a 4M difference. Weapon elixirs average 200k and lucky 3 powders are what? 20k? That's 18 alchemies to get it to +5 but doesn't include astral and immortal costs. If it works with 2 elixirs, great, you make out like a bandit. But if you fail from 3->4 once, that's 4 elixirs to get it back to +3. Twice and it's 8. You get the drift. I always recommend going for 4 once, especially if you get from 0 to 3 in three tries. After that, it's a gamble. My shield simply will not go past +4 and there's nothing I can do about it (<---almost believes this). Likewise with tabs. Figure on spending 2-3 stones to fix a white stat. If tabs at that degree average 400k per, you should figure it costing about 1M per stat to fix. If you got a good price on a glaive with zero phys attack but a decent crit and a little str and >20% on all the other whites, then I would fix the phys attack and you'll probably make some money. Expect to average 1-2 stones to fix a blue stat. Str and Int always look good. Durability is also a nice blue to have. If the weapon doesn't sell for more, at least it will sell quicker.

So pimp any som/sosun weapons. An sos 16 bow is worth pimping if it has a good crit to start with or if crit is the only stat that needs fixing. Glaives are almost always in high demand so you should be able to make some money pimping a good crit glaive, depending on the degree. Likewise with high crit bows. If you have the tabs and elements, you can usually make a little money adding int to spears and swords and str to bows, blades and glaives. If I have a bunch of elixirs in my inventory, I'll usually add +2 to any clothing 5deg or higher because it only costs about 100k, has a low chance of failure, and you can increase the price by around 250k.

@ non ego man, yeah persia has a lower prices in general, but im hoping things pick up soon but so far, ive had decent gains trading sos items without pimping them, that's why im thinking i MIGHT have better gains if i pimp them, hence the question.

based on ur experiences, id rather not take my chances considering these sos items are for resale, there's no point in taking the risk coz i won't be experiencing them with my char right now anyway.

on a general note, when is crit & br good enuf? for dura, i thought 15 is good enuf, meaning no need to work on it, for crits, im happy with more than 6

@ glavie, i understand where ur coming from. its like how come i have so much money (apparently) that i can afford to collect these sos stuffs but have not enuf experience to do alchemy but, i guess i am just lucky with getting good prices at buying & better prices at selling. heck, right now, i play like 2-3 hrs everyday & stall for a like 12 hours daily combined (2 pc's, 1 for stallin only). sometimes when i have chores, i just stall both pc & keep an eye out for any offers/pms while ironing my clothes

persia is the 2nd newest 1, zeus is the newest, but a large number of ppl are now 60+, i would be 60+ had i used gt & didn't reroll my glavier. as to events, i doubt there'll be one soon, other than compensation ones where +x% exp & drop rate. i miss my gdf in rad sea

the highest lvl i got in sro is 38, hybrid str blader then i got flamed when i asked about how's my build doing in srf . so i rerolled as a glavier got to about 30 (just done 2nd invt expansion quest), then persia opened, so started again where picking up arrows at lvl 1-5 is good enuf coz i barely had gold for pots. getting back to 31 (again, 2nd invt expansion quest), then got ks'd most of the time, decided to rerolled (again ) as pure int, this time im lvl 33, & doing the KS , only on those that don't answer my pm.

I need at least 25% Crit on my weapons (the number changes depending on the weapon).

The difference between a 0% shield and a 100% shield is small so it doesn't matter as much. Something over zero works for me.

Durability isn't that big a deal to me, but it seems to be pretty easy to max out so why not?

got the shield to +3 at 3 tries
for the sword, it went like 1/0/1/0/1, +str, failed int.

first alchemy was pretty addictive. run around dw looking for wep elixirs.
