hm yes.. if you really cant find it, go to http://www.digimods.co.uk and copy
one of his skirts. as long as you state that beneath your pic when you
are done with it; he brushes his skirts himself.
in the end you will also end up not finding the right sideskirts and bumpers
but then you will brush them yourself too.

i normally look there for inspiration and then start brushing :)

the colors together to mix em :D

first, make sure the skirts and the car are in different layers.
in the car layer, select the contours of the car (i usually use the
polygonal lasso tool for that. if you click a wrong point, press the
backspace button). the contours, so the whole car body without
the windows etc that dont need to be colored.

now after selecting the contours, press [Ctrl-Shift-U] or go to [Image-
Adjustments-Desaturate]. now your car body is in greyscale.

do the same with the skirts and bumpers. you will notice a difference
in strength of the grey colors. with [Image-Adjustments-Brightness/contrast]
change the brightnesses so that they fit with the grey colors of the rest of
the car.

now click the layers of the car/skirts, rightclick em and merge the layers.
next, select the whole car including sideskirts (if you change background
you dont have to do that. just because the background color might also
slightly change). after selection, go to [Image-Adjustments-Selective Color].

pick Neutrals from the colors and then start playing around with the RGB
colors and the light till you found a color that suits your car.

edit: thats the fun of brushing.. you will always have the right color
since you use the cars own colors.

was my fault too in the beginning. nowadays i save the .psd in a
different name everytime i make big changes like merging all layers.

you can still do it though. you can select the whole car, desaturate
it and try either 1) selecting the darker parts and changing the
brightness on that, or 2) work a bit with the eraser tool on a low
opacity and smudge the border between lighter and darker together
so it flows nicely into eachother.

then do the selective color.

its just important that in grayscale the colors match. if not, then you
will have for example a light green car with a strong, dark green skirt,
so it will look like you did a bad job getting a paintjob :P

not bad for starter :)

you have good ideas. the skirts and bumpers fit together.
next time, try to also work on the background a bit, by
either keeping the old one or changing into a different one.
that also helps the image of the car.

want to give it another try? we can pick a car with an easy
to find angle on it. cars with an angle mostly have good to
find donor cars.

okiedo. here are my comments.
ppl note that this is NOT flaming this is just some tips for next time :)

- i think putting the mustang front on was a great idea and its nicely done.
the only thing about the bumper that doesnt really work is the lack of
reflections. these are hard to get on bumpers and you will almost never
find one with the right reflections. it is just a matter of learning how to get
the reflects on to get rid of that problem.
same for the skirt. looks good but would look better with a reflecion on it :)

- the coloring is quite good. its again because of the lack of reflection that the
coloring looks a bit nasty on some spots. because of this, the car looks like
its half made of metallic green painted metal, and on some spot it looks like
it is made out of sandpapered plastic.

last but not least.. ;) the gray parts. make em black after u accidently
desaturate em :)

but i have to give props to you. this is the 2nd one i see from you, and
compared to the first one (yas that blue one!) i give it a 15/10 :P

for normal rating, atm i give it a 6,5/10. keep on rocking :D

so is anybody else interested in giving it a try? our next victim car
will be a mazda mx5 high res.

if you are afraid you will mess things up, just post it here anyway
and we will give you some advise and tips. i started off with
absolutely NO photoshop skill and a friend who did this sometimes
in his spare time. imo its a good way of wasting time and creating
something you like :)

plz, its more fun with more ppl so we can make polls and maybe
a "best car pimper chart" or whatever =)
