Depends.. in the US all absinthe containing thujone is illegal, but they make it without the chemical for human consumption because thujone is banned by the FDA.

In Canada and other parts of the world absinthe with certain levels of thujone is legal but of course the higher the amount the more regulations.

In europe, there is no drinking age, though you have to wait until 16 to buy. But they don't even check your ID.
