ITEM Drop Rate?

Post by twarg1 »

Hi Everyone!

Hope we all get a SoSun weapon today! :D Here are my questions:

1) Does anyone know what the various item drop rates are? Obviously some drops like element related items, hp/mp potions, universal pills, etc. are very common. SoX items extremely rare. My personal experience has been to get about 1 weapon/armor drop per ~150 monsters and 1 SoX drop per ~20000 monsters.

2) Do the drop rates change based on your character's level versus the monster's level? That is, if I'm level 1 do I have a greater chance to get a drop from a Mangryang than a level 40 does?

3) Is the drop rate for weapons and armors about the same?

Thanks,
twarg1 8)

Thanks for replying Airbeat! Here's a question for you. Do you normally fight monsters at/below/above your level :?: I usually fight monsters about 1-2 levels below me.

OK guys, you are making me CRY!

Those SoX items are obviously very hard to come by. I got 1 SoX (SoStar) armor footwear and that's it.

But some folks, probably botters, sure seem to get a lot of them because there are always many for sale :?

Hope our luck improves!

Hi twarg1,

I'll try to help answer your questions.

1) Nobody really knows for sure what the drop rates are, but I can tell you that when I am out hunting I get a weapon or armor drop about every 30-50 mobs or so. Right now I'm level 35 and I have found 4 SOX items so far. Keep in mind that the drop rate does vary - sometimes I'll get 3 drops from less than 30 mobs, then somedays I'll grind 50 or more mobs before an armor or weapon drop happens.

2) Yes, the drop rates change drastically depending on the difference between player and mob level. For mobs that are red or orange, non-alchemy drops can be very rare, but of course you get more XP/SXP. White and green mobs drop good items, but at a reduction of XP from orange or red mobs. When a mob is blue, you won't get much of either XP or drops, even alchemy ones. Therefore, if you are level 1 your chances of getting a drop from a mangyang is much, much higher than a level 40's.

3) It seems to be the same drop rate for both armor and weapons. One thing that is interesting to note is that if your character is male, you stand a high chance of getting female armor. Also if you are wearing armor, you'll stand a high chance of getting garments (and the opposite is true as well).

I seem to get pretty decent drops fighting white or green mobs. Right now I am SP farming on green mobs and I will get so much stuff that I have to go back to town because my inventory and my monkey are both full. The green mobs give less XP than whites or oranges, but the kill rate is faster resulting in more XP per hour (and less damage to my gear, and less pots too).

Hope this helps, and I hope you get another SOX drop soon!

Thanks numatan :) !

Very informative post. This seems to make sense based on my experience as well, although I have not played SRO for very long.

Thanks again,
twarg1 :D

LOL........You have chance to have a drop if you kill a low mob because the chance of drop it depends on how quick you kill that mob....the drob doesn`t exist at red monsters because if the monster is red, you kill him harder....at yelow mobs for example, you have more chances of drop because you kill him quicker........Of course that`s at normal weapons....to get a sos weapon you only have to be lucky:P

Have you people not been to the home site?

They tell you the drop rate depends on what monsters you kill. Certain creatures drop certain items, yes... but drops for blue and soX and stuff are more likely on creatures that are white (your lvl). Red creatures give the worse drop rate (higher than you) but more xp. Blue creatures give a lower drop rate than white creatures and less xp (lower than you).

i agreed with this too. i been getting a lot of female equipment with blues int/str +3 and a lot more. that is all good but the problem is my character is MALE.

drop rate for sox is higher on weakers mobs i think because i got an sos lvl. 20 from killing about 5-10 bandits while waiting for tg. i was at lvl. 25. i also receive the STOLEN SWORD from a bandit without troubles. (i have heard that it takes anywhere b/w first try to 3 hrs to get it when you are doing this quest at low lvls.)

Sure, I've been there and read the guides and forums, but I think SRF has much better and more accurate information by far.

I don't think anybody here would disagree with the scaled XP in relation to the difference between a player and a mob's level, but 3 of the 4 SOX items that I got from mobs I killed came from greens (the other one was a white).

I did pick up a SOX because a nukebot left it laying in the sand. He was fighting either meek gun powders (level 27) or earth taoists/magicians (level 30), and because of his equipment and the ability to nuke taoists for like 3k+, I assumed his level was in the mid 30s. Because of his estimated level, I figured either one of those mobs were green to him. Either way it was a happy day for me. :)
