yaaaaay revenge for the server crowdedness!

Post by desolator144 »

In case you haven't been to SRO's website in a while, they added a notice that isn't listed in the ones that show when you open the SRO game launcher. It states:
In addition, for the convenient and smooth gaming experience of our users, huge bot punishment is scheduled to be processed during next week.

and yes, they did actually make it red like that. It's too much of a coincidence that this would be right after all the servers are crowded as hell from some new bot that apparently came out. Well now every cheating asshole that used it is gonna get IP banned. That means if they had legitimate characters, they go bye bye too. :D hahahaha stupid botters. Oh and if you're wondering how this happened, my guess is the new bot has some sort of feature that makes it really stand out and easy for the server to notice they're bots. So basically either the GM's ran around like crazy and made a big bot list real fast (yeah right!) or they found a telltale feature of the bots so they're going to ban them all :D (now of course, not ALL BOTS, but all people using the new bot)

And just as long as there is millions of proxies out there to make new accounts and programmers to make new bots and update them, i don't think the huge ban list will stop them. The numbers of botters are growing, ban punishment isn't harsh enough, has to be something more extreme than that to discourage them completely. :D

3 new servers = 3 servers added to huge ban list

That's my speculation for now

What would be nice is if JM banned bot accounts and also any other account connected to from the same IP. That would f*ck the botters that created mule accounts after the announcement was made.

But then I would be banned when anyone who goes to the same college as me gets banned.

If they did IP ban, which I was pretty sure they did, they'd not IP ban any addresses with more than probably about 5 accounts that have logged in from it to prevent blocking huge places like colleges and corporate office buildings (that's what executives play all day lol) Anyway, maybe a GM just sat by the grocery trader in DW and watched all the bots stack up on that one spot where they always stand. They all I assume perform the same action to so they could even just record everyone who stopped there, did something, then ran off in an identical direction as the rest. Then A LOT of people would get banned. And hehehehehe @ DresAn. It's like attack of the clones! Rawr! lol
oh and I might as well add my thoughts on gold bots. They're not being raised to job PK against me so I really don't give a crap as long as they don't KS me too much. Some say it's unfair for rich people to just go buy gold to give themselves an advantage but here's something you may not have realized. I sold 10 mil GP in Runescape when I played and I sold it to a guy who was super high lvl but didn't have a ton of money. He bought it to give to his neices and nephews for Christmas cuz they all played and that was so the perfect present but he didn't have time to gather that much himself. So yeah, not all gold buyer are evil, spoiled, rich kids that like to cheat.
As for stupid ass cheating mother Farking dickheads like AlCapone on Venice who got banned for botting to a super high lvl just to piss people off by being a thief nonstop, they can all burn in hell.

If they did IP ban it wouldnt be small it would end up being a whole country. And I don't need to mention which country(s) might have an ip ban range. Simple stuff.

why is an ip ban or hw ban needed anyway?
this is not an fps game were you just pick up things were you left( banned)
this is a time consuming game even with a bot it will take a decent time to get back to your original level

Joymax is doing the right thing they just need an email verification system to make it just a bit harder to get a new account, proxy is way too easy but now ya need to create new emails and so on and on :D

i do hope they clean things good this time or at least clean out another 2 servers and keep those cleaned servers updated.

Clean your trash and keep cleaning instead of waiting till the trash starts to stink

wtf, your external IP is impossible to change. Seriously, I've called my ISP and asked if they can change it manually and they couldn't. In the 4 years I've had them, my IP has only changed 3 times as far as I've noticed. Only dialup changes IPs every single time.
And holy shit BlackFox, is every single post you make some stupid ass ignorant comment? BTW if I was an American MMORPG maker (like Blizzard with WoW) I'd just plain ban all foreign countries but Canada and the british ones. That would cut down on gold farming like crazy. I mean come on, wouldn't you sell gold in US dollars that translate to at least 10x their value in your currency to make money because there are no jobs and your country's like 90% in poverty? I would if I lived in one of those places.

Wrong.

Most US and almost all overseas DSL and cable providers use dynamic IPs with a DHCP lease period of 3-30 days (typically a week). Also, if you have a "sticky" IP address (like I do - it has changed maybe 3 times in 6 years), the resolution is usually to turn off your DSL router or cable modem for a period of time. The idea is that someone on your network node will DHCP in the interim and get your old IP address. When you turn your modem back on, you'll get a different one.

Also, don't forget about proxies which are trivial to set up.

@ Silver0
Hardware bans are easily bypassed without swapping hardware.

I've looked for hours and not found a free proxy that lets you use high traffic ports like ones that run games. I could just barely find one paid gaming proxy service. If anyone has any single IP address of a working proxy server with fast enough of a response time to actually play SRO without lag and has good uptime, PM it to me and prove it. Otherwise, that's total BS. Also, every DSL and cable ISP I've ever seen re-assigns the same IP to each modem's mac address whenever possible. And of course, the MAC address never changes naturally on its own. And if you spoof your mac address, it won't recognize you as a customer and you can't connect. DHCP renews every once in a while but it always gives you back the same IP unless you have a really, really, really crappy, low tech, know nothing ISP (like Comcast maybe).
Btw if they did do a hardware ban that was based on the serial numbers of all the hardware in your computer like XP installs are and associate it with the SRO install, do you really think people would keep swapping out one piece of hardware every time they get banned? That'd get expensive. Plus, who would really get like a lvl 50 character banned and start all over then get that one banned after a month or two then start over and start over and start over. I don't think anyone would do that.
