Other countries laugh at America cause we kill ourselves the most. I suggest not to ban guns or anything, just switch to safer weapons. Bb guns, guns are only used for self defence right? So just shoot them face while they crying at the pain you run.

Stab them all my ass, you think he can stab 32 people and not have the knife turned back at him? a gun is a long distance weapon and can easily shoot 32 people, a knife you had to frkin go up to the person and stab him, ofcourse someone would fight back and kill/knock him out he killed 2 teachers for god sakes, guns are the problem and america is chalk full of them, Canada has lots of guns but the monreal shooting was the only one in YEARS!!! because the guy was mentally disturbed and somehow got the license -_-, America is having record killings every other year now a days and it seems like its gun control problem, if your say that gun control isnt a problem then walk to your nearest K-Mart or wall mart, I guarantee you that there will be guns and ammunition.Reise wrote:i play silk road wrote:Reise wrote:You have to stop blaming this shit on the fact that us Americans can own firearms. if he didnt have the gun, he wouldnt shoot anybody
No, he probably would've just stabbed them all, or gotten hold of a gun anyway. Crimes will still happen, guns or not.

That is so true.

Sigh. Why's there have to be a reason every time there's a tragedy these days? Why can't a psycho just be psycho? Why can't people concentrate on healing those involved, instead of immediately pointing fingers everywhere? This wasn't caused by the availability of guns, or videogame violence, or any other token excuse for some politician to rise to popularity. It was caused by someone's psychological state and decision to kill people.
At this point, taking all the guns away isn't an option. Make them illegal, search peoples' houses... There will still be guns hidden away, and they will still be used for crimes. That said, making them more available isn't a wise idea either. That may deter the least committed criminals when they think of everyone else in the area having one, but makes them easier to obtain for people who will kill regardless.

canada's population is as big as the new york state. They do have crimes and they do have guns. America simply has a larger population which equals to more crimes of course. And of course theres guns in walmart or kmart(right to bear arms) You just need to be 21 with a license.

Look I'm not going to debate with you about why Americans can have guns, fact is we do and thats the way it's going to be. I don't care what other countries think or do because of it. You can cry and whine about how America is stupid because we let maniacs have guns, and how your country is so much Farking better because it doesn't. I really don't care. It's one of the first freedoms in our constitution, so it's not going anywhere.

im terribly sorry , and have dire sympathy for the families involved, but if you ask me, they had it coming
there should be more security in schools, or a least ban unlicenced guns
You have to be 21 to own a gun. They're taking their parents or buying them illegally. Don't blame this on our laws.
He bought 2 guns legally by Va. law.
And I guess this is what we get for freedom...Fuc*ked up, powerless people inflicting serious damage...

Ya know what, coming to these forums is really starting to tick me off. You people posting about gun laws and law analysis are completely disrespectful and should have NO say in what's goin on here. As a student of Virginia Tech and a guy who has lost a friend and 2 coworkers and possibly more, I can officially say SHUT UP AND SHOW SOME COMMON DECENCY. Right now thousands of young students, staff members, and families are mourning the death of 32 innocent people as well as the many injuries. This horrific act of mass murder should not be ripped apart so quickly. All you're doing is spreading hate and false truths. You don't know the facts, you're not an expert, and you clearly don't live in this area. So please, shut up and show respect. Right now all the people around here need is support. We're hurting and you people just want to throw policies at us. WE DON'T WANT IT!
If that's not enough to make you change your mind about discussing this crap, how's this for a personal note. A couple of months ago I spent 5 hours speaking with Ryan Clark (the deceased RA) just getting to know him. We talked for hours about our lives and what we were going to do in life. He had 3 majors, he was smart, funny, and probably one of the nicest guys I'd ever met. Yesterday morning he was shot and killed trying to protect an innoncent young woman. I am also an RA. Had that happened in my hall, I would have done the same thing. I could have been killed if I were assigned to that hall. But instead, this young brilliantly great man was taken away from us. I thank God that not more of my friends were killed or injured (to my knowledge, I only know half of the victims names).
So before you go telling us what we did wrong and what we need to do to make it right, how about you show a little support. Don't take everything you hear on the news as fact and no one here wants to hear what you have to say about our policies. Especially since a lot of you are just young kids, no older than those who lost their lives yesterday. This is the last post i'll make here and I can only hope that you all get my message.

Ok i talked about this in my Current Issue class at skool.
32 killed and then shooter killed himself so total death toll is 33
This occured 4 days before the 8th anniversity of the Calibine shooting
Ok so at 7:15 they found 2 dead people that have been shot in there dorm room. The cops came and said it was domestic violence or something and there is nothing to worry about.
2 hours later at 9:15 the real shooting begin across campus. People were jumping out of there class rooms on the 4th floor to aviod the shooter.
He tied chains around the doors so no one could leave and made it hard for cops and people to get in.
He had two guns and a lot of extra ammuntion in his vest so he had to of planned this
They said this occured because of a fight with his girlfriend and he said she was cheating on him
The shooter was a 23 or 24 Asain Male here on a Visa.
This is the worst skool shooting in the United States to occur
Truely a sad event

This is so sad, a very tragic event indeed. My heart goes out to all those affected and they are in my prayers.
What also saddens me is what has happened to this thread. If you want to dicuss how stupid Americans are and how gun laws could have changed this, Star a new thread please!

I've had deaths in my family. Just some quick/useless info.
its not that they are dead now, its how they died.

Yes I am american and I respect it, yes the guy was mentally disturbed, BUT if they had not chose to have guns, none of the craziness in america we see today would happen, here take this.Sharp324 wrote:PhoenixRider wrote:Stab them all my ass, you think he can stab 32 people and not have the knife turned back at him? a gun is a long distance weapon and can easily shoot 32 people, a knife you had to frkin go up to the person and stab him, ofcourse someone would fight back and kill/knock him out he killed 2 teachers for god sakes, guns are the problem and america is chalk full of them, Canada has lots of guns but the monreal shooting was the only one in YEARS!!! because the guy was mentally disturbed and somehow got the license -_-, America is having record killings every other year now a days and it seems like its gun control problem, if your say that gun control isnt a problem then walk to your nearest K-Mart or wall mart, I guarantee you that there will be guns and ammunition.Reise wrote:i play silk road wrote:Reise wrote:You have to stop blaming this shit on the fact that us Americans can own firearms. You've gotta think of the 2nd amendment as a sort of national security. Who wants to invade a country full of gun-toting hillbillies and psychoes?

thank you for saying that. I'm from northern virginia i know one of the people that passed away plus one that jumped out of a window from the gunshots.
I completely stand beside you bro.

Meh, think I'll just edit this 'cause even though it was pretty worthy of posting and full of legitimate points, it kinda subtracts from the whole point of the topic. Also, it'd just add more replies that push further off. Lastly, because Stall is the man.
My condolences to those directly or indirectly effected by the tragedy.

People commit crimes because they don't think anything will happen. (very vague statement, don't start going nazi on this)
What are the chances of someone goign around robbing people and doing all sorts of other crimes if everyone has at least a handgun on them- Very low.
I strongly have to dissagree with that statement.
It is the opportunity that makes the situation real. What people do when they loose their control, can be far beyond what they ever thought they were capable of. It might lead to the decrease of some crimes, but other crimes would in return escalate. I rather read about robbery then manslaughter in the news.
If everyone had a gun, there would be no opportunity. Only a death wish.
No sane person would attempt to rob someone knowing there's a big chance that either the victim or a bystander had a handgun in their holster.
if you had a gun they you would just shoot them
