Removing skill mastery

Post by daraknor »

I know there is a quest described esewhere to remove acquired skills, but I would like to know if it is possible to drop force mastery as well, since that is a cap based on your mastery level total of 300.

In other words, can I drop a weapon mastery I don't want?

The quest can be received at any of the 3 Herb merchants in the towns of the world. Speak to them about 'withdrawing skill' and get the Curst Hearts quest. I believe you can collect a maximum of 300 Hearts at any one time, but you only need 10 of them for every skillpoint or mastery you wish to drop. Once you've received the number of Curst Hearts you need (say you collected 50, for example), go back to a Herbalogist and get them exchanged for skill recover potions. With 50 Curst Hearts, you'll get 5 potions. That's 5 skill levels you can now choose to lower. You'll also need a -lot- of cash. I don't know the exact amounts, but be prepared to pay over 20k gold per skill level.

When lowering a skill level, you'll receive 80% of the skillpoints contained within that level back into your sp pool. Let me explain this further. At Mastery level 30, you pay something like 144 skill points to raise it. If you decided to drop down to Mastery level 29, you'll receive back 115 skill points out of the 144 you initially spent.

This waste of skillpoints and money teaches an important lesson: Plan out your skill paths carefully as you levelup. Don't level what you don't need. It's too costly to go back on your decisions.

Hope this helps. :)

Do some monsters not drop curst hearts? I found them while killing white tigers but the chakjis and bugs have never dropped anything.

I have gotten curst hearts from just about everything I've encountered. They are fairly uncommon drops so you won't come across them all that often.

It can be difficult to get rid of obsolete quest-type items, but you can try selling them to an NPC merchant. If you can't sell the curst hearts, wait untill you get 10 and then exchange it for a potion. You should be able to sell that potion to an NPC for sure.

To get rid of the cursed hearts, just abandon the quest.. im pretty sure that when you abandon any quest, you lose all items you had gained for that quest.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought you only get 80% of total SP while on the quest of withdrawal quest..

For example, say you get 100 sp from killing a monster. But with the quest active you only get 80sp .

That is wrong. The 80% figure comes into play when using a potion to reduce a skill-level. You receive 80% of the SP you spent on that level back into your SP pool. :)
