The disorganized, mostly untranslated future update thread did a wonderful job of confusing me by not explaining anything. And apparently everyone I talk to in game has no idea wtf is going on either. So just for the sake of me and everyone, I figured I'd ask.
where the hell is the line between iSRO/Euro/KSRO/FOS and what's the difference?
From what I can gather, FOS is a completely new game that's completely seperate from KSRO that Joymax is doing a beta of. You have to start all over and there's new skills and characters types and all that stuff and it takes place in Europe (I think???). Then there's the european updates for KSRO and eventually iSRO, which may or may not exist....speaking of that, how many version are there REALLY of SRO? I heard there's like Japan, Taiwan, Korean, International, and like a bunch of others so how many are there really? They're adding Constantinople to iSRO soon which I think is technically in Europe and according to Joymax it is. Is that what everyone's talking about when they say "Euro Update?" Are they gonna merge FOS and SRO or double everything up by adding Europe to iSRO or what? When everyone says something is a "Euro Update" do they mean it's really not an update for SRO at all, it's just something that's going to be in FOS? If so, why is the "future update thread" 90% about another game completely and has almost nothing to do with SRO at all?!?! :banghead:

And if all those new Euro weapons and character types are coming to iSRO, then what the hell is FOS? What will be added with the Constantinople updates etc? Can anyone explain all this before my head explodes?

I think i saw somewhere in the sro forum...Morningdew said that u can still use your old char...
If there isnt Europe, the chinese lvl cap will continue to raise and we still have siege war, so it's in future update

mmmmk, so that means Euro is FOS and you can somehow translate your character?

Or Euro is in SRO and they'll....do something weird to add dual wielded swords and stuff???

So far I've seen screenshots that claim to be from FOS with DW in the background. I've seen screenshots with Goats and those big birds claiming to be from "Euro" whatever the hell that is, and yet goats and those birds are gonna be added to iSRO

Nothing really makes any sense at all and I don't think anyone actually does know wtf anything is either

Euro and Chinese characters are completely separate, but can interact, if that makes any sense.

If you have your Chinese char, you can travel over into the Euro areas to fight the 80+ monsters, or you can create a new Euro char and begin in Europe

ummmmmmm......nope lol.
Actually it kinda makes sense but will you actually see the newly made European characters when you go to the Euro areas in SRO? And will there be areas that only newly created Euro characters can go to? And will it use 2 clients?

2 different clients can still connect to same server. Any problem with that?

Its easier if you space your paragraphs out, otherwise it just looks like a huge chunk of text that nobody will read.

ok, SRO consists of 3 parts/races: chinese, european, and islams. so far we (iSRO) only have the chinese portion. the korean SRO already got the euro portion (aka FOS). the euro and chinese portions are connected, which mean the map will be expanded and the 2 races can interact. they will be on the same server and share the same economy,etc.

it's just like the update with the taka-something... territory (with Yarkan), except they are adding a whole new race with new weapons and gears along with the map.

as for would it be the same client, i think it will, but im not sure since i've never played kSRO. my speculation is that it will be the same client, and when u start SRO you'll be able to choose which race to play as...

In KSRO, Euro is on the same client as China....

When you create a character, u have to option to make a european or chineese character.... u can have up to 3 of both races (6 characters total?) per server...

As happynoobing said about the map, "it's just like the update with the taka-something... territory" <- 100% correct

iSRO is the Internation Version (All countries besides Asia)

Then Asia has a bunch of little SRO services ie kSRO jSRO vSRO etc.

FOS is the Europe update

Euro is the pop term for the FOS update we call Euro.

Just like in WoW how there are different races all in the same game SRO works similar.

SRO has three planned races

Chinese
European
Islamic

Only chinese was released for iSRO

European was just released for kSRO and a few other SRO's in Asia,

iSRO is expected to get the Euro update in the future (This year, next year, who knows).

FOS - Fantasy of Silkroad

The title of the Europe update.

The update is just more maps in game and another race to place.
It is not a seperate game.

Euro can play with China and visa versa.

okay well everyone seems to agree except that according to the KSRO website...FOS was and I think still is its own client. I read the translation and saw the site to download the new FOS client. There's two reasons they would make it its own client.
One is because it's over 600 MB of new music/3d Models/skins/etc and putting it in an update is never going to work and they wanted to beta test it without forcing everyone to download all that.
Two, and equally likely, is because FOS doesn't work with SRO at all. It's too different and the basic skill, exp, money, quest, trade, and character structure is completely new and is too different to work with SRO at all. From what I've seen that's completely accurate.
Not to mention how when they invited KSRO players to test the FOS beta, there were like 1 or 2 servers just for FOS...as in Joymax bought servers for FOS already and set them up just for that. It's possible to recycle them into SRO servers but it doesn't seem very likely that they'd ever be able to combine SRO and FOS. I mean come on, they even named it different and made a new website for it. And the servers are all packed so there's absolutely no room for people to start new Euro chars from scratch and nobody would want to since they'd continually get owned by the lvl 80 players. I mean talk about starting out with an unfair disadvantage! I just don't think it's gonna happen, I think it's a seperate game. I haven't heard Joymax once say they're gonna merge it, but according to some of you they already did. Well then why's the FOS site still up? lol

Not too sure what u folks are talking about w FOS, but from what i've read it stands for Fantasy of Silkroad.....

I play on KSRO from time to time as I've got the client....the single client... I have European characters, and Chineese characters...on the same server....

I've been in parties with both chineese and euro characters.... not to mention i've seen a few chineese folks running through constantinople....

so... just to toss this out there... there is 1 client.... euro seems to be out of beta (seeing as how its availible on every server, and i've got a few euro characters while my highest chineese char is lvl 5)....

dunno anything bout that FOS site... but i know this.... I'm SomeDoctor, a lvl 13 Euro cleric xD

FOS is a new client you download.

It is still just an update to the old SRO.

Meaning you can download FOS and your fully updated with FOS and below or update your old client to FOS.

it is just an update to the client so you do not have to reupdate everything again on the launcher.

anyway, it stands to reason that there's no way in hell they could push down a 600 MB patch when they couldn't even handle that patch 62 or whatever where they made the manual patch for it cuz the servers were crashing

I guess the beta really was on regular old SRO servers, they just didn't want it interacting with regular servers during the beta testing cuz that could screw shit up real fast

Now there's just one more mystery....if it's not a seperate game, why is there a new set of low lvl monsters like those freaky looking cabbage things that are basically the Mangyangs of Euro? If U pick a Euro character do you start in a new town with new monsters from lvl 1 on up?
