Pts to Shimohime.

Riddle # 94
Difficulty: Easy

Code: Select all

There is a town in Texas where 5% of all the people living there have unlisted phone numbers. If you selected 100 names at random from the town's phone directory, on average, how
many of these people would have unlisted phone numbers?

It's been a while since I've answered here.

None, because unlisted numbers would not be in the phone directory.

BTW mixmax, I have forgotten how long the old riddle thread was...

Pts to Stallowned.

Riddle # 96
Difficulty: Easy

Four members of a band are walking to a night concert. They decide to take a shortcut, but must cross a bridge. Luckily they have one flashlight. Because of the varying size of their instruments, it takes each member a different amount of time to cross the bridge - it takes the first person one minute, the second person two minutes, the third person five minutes and the fourth person ten minutes. They may only go to the other side of the bridge in pairs, travelling at the slower speed so if the one minute person went with the ten minute person, it would take a total of ten minutes. Since there is only one flashlight, one person must come back across the bridge, then another pair can cross. They only have 17 minutes to cross the bridge and still get to the concert on time. What order should they cross to get everyone across and get to the concert?

Dang, I'm stuck at 19.

Does returning takes time to?

If not.

4 with 1 > 10 minute
1 goes back/
3 with 1 > 15minutes
1 goes back
2 with 1 > 17minutes

Returning takes as much time as it does to get there.

Please refer to the men by their minute time, not their number(IE 1 minute man instead of person # 1)
