PM me if you want, I can help you build your own comp. I can build it for you and ship it as long as you pay for everything.

Supreme Commander is the new age of graphic engines. I would love to see you get over 10 fps on high settings

It's not smart to build your computer just so you can run this killer-graphic game. Sure it's nice to have a computer that you can say 'it can run anything' but with a limited budget, compromise.
If I'm a newbie at buying computer, I would just go order one of those already made tower (just make sure they have the specs that I want) and get on with what I buy it for: playing games.
1. You save money by buying it whole.
2. You get technical support for the whole system for a while.
3. You don't have to deal with the hassle of of putting it yourself, although it's not hard at all putting a computer together.
Just make sure you get some solid parts (name brand stuff). And watch out, sometime they cut corner and put some cheap stuff in there that ticks me off like a cheap network card that craps out all the time or something.

$1000 bux hmm heres what i came up with:
Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813136158
CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103765
Power supply unit
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817371001
video card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814133193
RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231047
Hard drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822144417
Case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811208021
comes out to about $996. If you dont like the case then ull have to spend more =) also there is still tax (if you live in tennesee , cali or new jersey) and shipping to add into the cost
thats a REALLY good computer imo. I dont think anything else is missing, i assume you already have a keyboard/mouse/monitor. The motherboard has onboard sound which is decent. BTW all the parts should be compatible.
I cant believe i bought my amd x2 3800 for $320 now the x2 5000 is $215 =( Also the video card i gave u in that list is the 8800 Gts which is the second best, the only thing thats better is the 8800 GTX. It should run everything on max settings.

Where do you see me claiming my year-old machine which was midline when I built it would run SC? Oh wait, hold on, it's just another episode of Geedunk Trying To Look Smart. He asked for "semi-cheap" which obviously rules out high-end gaming. Your comment is like telling someone that $10,000 ain't much money for a new car because they won't even be able to race in the Indy 500 with it.
