but anyways Gj JM.

+1

There are so many variables that can cause lag. You can lag because of your computer, your router (if you have one), your cable/dsl/fiber modem, your ISP (which could include any number of servers/routers/switches, all of the networking equipment that sits between your ISP and Joymax's servers, or Joymax's servers themselves. If Joymax is lagging, then likely EVERYONE in the game would be lagging at the same time. That is rarely the case.

Sure, Joymax can upgrade their systems to handle more of a load, but there are still other factors to consider, which are out of JM's hands.

i don't lag either... i only lag when my internet is slow.. and oh graphics lag..

The "town lag" loading everything what you see (gear enc) has also to do with (not only your video-card) how do you program you game. Do you load everything (gear, map enc) when you are loading the game or when you see it for the first time. They choose for the last one and that causes the vid lag / fps drop.

That's why SRO is seamless, what's your point?

Do you realize how much RAM it would take to have every piece of info in the game loaded already? It would basically have to put everything in the Silkroad folder into RAM. That's over a gigabyte. Unless you have a 2GB of RAM, you wouldn't even be able to play the game.

Because when you spawn in to town. Its not loading the gear at all. You see when you spawn, and you see al the chars around you with grey gear. It has to load all those textures. So the "loading" screen is for, GUI, map?

Its not a -You should do it like this way - post :)

Yep imposible. Not a option. But you got also "loading" (like ferys) screens.

So
At the few first tries i got a c10 error lol
when i log in, and started playing, i didn'T feel difference..
But when this facking c10 dissapeared, i was able to login at the first time, and 3 hours later, i was still able to login at the first time.
I think Joymax gave us much more server slot, instead of making the servers laggless. I think it better, because : successful login+lagg=you can enjoy game, but sometimes it's anyoying. no free slots+no lagg = no game

Well that's why I said lag shouldn't (always) be one of the things we blame on Joymax. Sure, lag in towns is horrible a majority of the time, but I think, of your 2 options, joymax took the better route. It makes much more sense to load the textures when you see them for the first time, instead of loading everything-under-the-sun during the "loading" screen. Perhaps Joymax could reduce the line-of-sight of your character when you return to town so you can't physically see 103923409 stallers all at the same time (then their textures won't load - less lag as you move through town.) But you can (partly) take care of that through the graphic settings on your client, e.g., the character draw distance.

Patch downloads only happen if the client gets patched. That's standard in any software patching. An upgrade isn't just for the client software. In this case, the servers are being upgraded. Whether that means server hardware is being upgraded, or the server software, I can't say for sure.

Sorry but since 1 day after this inspection was completed I have had far more lag than ever before in the history of Pacific server over 2 days off-and-on. :(
