SilkRoad Group Play?

I recently started playing SRO, am lvl 31 on Babel server, and was wondering is there more group play for SRO? I think the party system as it is is pretty weak, and other than putting on a cape and PvP or doing trade/thief runs what is there to do with friends? Is there anything at later levels that you can actually do with your friends? I have a couple friends who I've tried to get into the game, but it seems like the only time we're near eachother is for trade runs or to exchange items...Seems stupid to me, game seems like its just grind all the time.
