My little theory on server traffic

Post by purified »

Well most of you have problems getting in, and I ALWAYS get in the servers in less than 10 tries, and heres what I do.

Type in your Username and Password. Hold enter until the image verification comes up, then type the image code as fast as you can, if that doesnt get you in, then start over, once you type in the code and you cant get in, you click enter again, that one is going to DC you instantly, the first attempt is the key to getting in the server on heavy days like the weekends, this is my little theory and it has been proven true to me, if you cant get in the first attempt, dont bother going on the second attempt, that one is an automatic DC, and type the image code as fast as you can, and there is a better chance of you connecting into the server. Please tell me if this works for you guys tomorrow, because its nightime over here and kiddies arent up from bed to play SRO yet.

Yeah, there's no trick to server traffic. I'm pretty sure it's like this:

If someone logs off in your server, then you have a spot to log on. But then there could be others that are trying to get that spot.

Pretty much like a sale at a clothes store. First in, best dressed.

i'm quite confident with my typing speed, but it doesn't guarantee me a log in on the first try.

dunno, but what i've been doing lately is if the image verification screen doesn't appear, i go to the server lists and re-log in to my server of choice. i saw that im actually able to log in now during peak hours when before i can't. no theories, just a baseball player's superstition.

basically it is a massive fu by JM

the CAPTCHA was added to stop bots, lmao, i mean the captcha was added to pretend that they care about bots.

notice that the captcha doesn't function as per the normal login? notice that you can click the buttons behind the captcha?

should be simple really, login = you are logged in
fail captcha = you are logged out
but in reality it works:
login = if theres a slot allow capture
captcha = if theres still a slot, login, else you are dumped back to windows.

The problem is, you can't instantly write the code. When you hit enter after entering your logon/password, you can't just start typing the image code. You have to move the mouse, click the cell, type the code, move the mouse, click confirm.

By then, your spot on the server is taken...

I wish Joymax would fix the logon screen. When you first authenticate with your name and password, it should HOLD a spot for you on the server while you verify that you are a real person with the image code. If you fail the code, the server should free up your spot, but if you succeed, your slot should still be there and you should get to log in.

I hate how sometimes I can just open the SRO client, see the logon screen come up (not type in my account info) and get disconnected. At that point, I didn't even TRY to connect, so why did I get disconnected?

And why does a disconnect force the client to quit? :banghead: :banghead:

I'm sure some of these points have been brought up before, but that's just my rant.

It works and i posted this on SRF twice but nobody seem to saw it. Same theory as yours and yea, second one is immediately DC(Didn't figure out why :? )

I also know another thing that if you don't disconnect but the image code doesn't appears(To be more understandable : If you don't get DC'd)that means that there isn't any empty spot for you to get into Silkroad

That's my theory

NOTE THIS.

Have u guys not thought about the "refresh" when someone logs out ???

When someone leaves and you want to log in, the space does not open instantaneously. Therefor, the time gap while it is about to be refreshed could have easily had more people leave the game. but also there must be a refresh for people geting in and then a recount of spaces available. this is while your still trying to get in. If im right this means while there are spaces available the server wont no this untill the refresh therefor you can miss your gap even if you managed to be the first one to enter IV code all the time.

You have to catch the random lucky moments.

I think ^^

I also beleive that the login process itself is randomised. I think its set up to DC u randomly. meaning your never getin in on some tries. Il explain why i think this. They would do this to cut off the chance of some people geting in by 100% which would actually end up with you geting in as theres a smaller group when you try.

"this explains why as stated above in other posts. DC is near certain on 2nd try" perhaps to deter inpersistant players from trying anymore. thus reducing amount of people trying to get in. Only theories ^^

B4 the IC code was introduced i found the login process very strange. You could try and enter the game and it would say server traffic . maybe 1,2,3,4,5,6 times. at any of these it would DC you. this is random i think? you would expect that if its going to say server traffic it would then DC you right then. sumtimes it would and sumtime after the 5th or more "server traffic" message . i think thats odd.

And have you noticed how with this IV code you can get the server traffic message up to 20 times or more b4 the IV code appears. and then when you try again you get the IV code 1st try. This is highly unlickly and it happens far to often.

Just some things i think are possible. I dnt no if any of it is true. But they are my theories.

I just keep clicking connect till the IV code box comes up. I enter the code and if it says "Unable to connect due to server traffic" i just press 'quit' and open Silkroad again because for me when i fail to get in, it DC me 100% so i only get 1 shot at it before i have to re open.

Yes, before the image code, when you tried to connect there were 2 possible failures: one which said "server traffic" and one which DC'd you. It seemed like the client was performing the login in two steps, and you'd be DC'd if the second step failed.

Now, with the image code, you only get the "server traffic" before the code, and you only get the DC after the code. Comparing this to what happened before, it looks like the image code comes between the two steps.

The reason I don't believe the "type the code quickly" theory is that, before the image code was added, your client would have performed that second step immediately. So if being quick was important, it should rarely have DC'd there, but it often did.

this is so easy.

just type in the image ver as fast as you can, ive only gotten disconnected like twice.

ive tested it out, typing it slow wont get you in because that open spot will be taken by a person who typed the image ver quicker than you.

Its a race, thats all it is. I swear to you.

either that, or use two computers.

have your gaming machine with your main character set up, hti enter until the IV comes up, type it in. wait

load up machine number two, a laptop, whatever, type up your alt account, stall or whatever.

have the mouse of your main account over confirm, waiting.

hit enter on the second box until IV appears.

click confirm on box one.

instant success

If I smoke a cigarette and Try 5more times I get in :D
Nah it's just luck.
sunday evening I tried for 45minutes untill I got in.
Monday at 1PM I got in on the first try.

Traffic hates me.
But if you keep trying you'll get in eventually.

Wrong, it is working perfectly and stopping a lot of bots.
Before captcha people would use auto log-in scripts but now they dont work anymore, thus it's working great.

That pretty much sums it up, and is true. My late days on isro I learnt this, and if I didn't get in on my first try, I'd just hit Exit and try again. No use of pressing enter again.

it isn't ''a spot'', it's server traffic (duhh) so it means when the traffic is low u can get it.

if there are 1000 people who are grinding, the server will have a lot more traffic then if there are 1000 people who are stalling.
so, it's true u can get in if you type the code fast :)

that's also the reason why joymax doesn't ban 24/7 stallers, they cause not much traffic.
