Yeah those protectors are always fun to summon near lvl 1's that are questing mangyangs At that level, the player loses nothing, except a tiny bit of time that it takes to run back out the south gate to kill more mangyangs.

Well there is a slight bit of lag between when you hit the protector and when it kills you. I've seen botters hit them with a bow before. When the protector gets hit, an image (I think it's an image of the name of the protector... "young wolf" or whatever) shoots back at the player to kill him. So if your friend summons a protector on you JUST outside the safe zone, let it drift just to the edge of your nuke's range. Then nuke it and spam the phantom quickslot button like crazy. You may be able to hit it before that graphic thing comes back to kill you.
Another interesting question. What about areas where you can't attack someone but they can attack you, because of an obstacle. I've had it happen where I couldn't attack a gun powder, but it kept throwing bombs at me. Switch roles with the protector so you can attack it, but (hopefully) it can't attack you.

i seen a newbie run up to one of these while i was caping at Jangan south. guy kept whacking it and whacking it. it activated and started shaking (its kamikaze animation just before it launches into you)
then it dissappeared.

Well just spawn one, watch the bot die, log out and back in (assuming you can get back in...), and you're free to spawn another one

The lvl 1 must have started attacking it right at the end of the protector's timeout. It only lasts, I believe, 5 minutes. So if you start attacking at 4 minutes 59 seconds, you shouldn't die.
