A mass ban is not the right thing to do in this situation
The correct way for JM to play this is to start weekly bannings of people as many as can be confirmed per week. And I dont mean gold bots I mean the people that started the botting and the people that are advertising that they bot. If you take these people out of the game you take away the likleyhood of new players being bombarded with bot globals 5 mins after joining. You will slowly diminish the number of bots not only because less people will hear about them (unless the intended to bot anyway) but also because people will not want to bot to 50 then get banned whats the point.
If the high profile botters are banned people will think twice about doing it themselves.
I also dont think that banning the tak botters first is the way to go. They are easy to identify the bots that are in their 30s to 40s are the what should be priorities. they affect the game in a much larger way they are still in DW that town and the people that are in it drasticly change the games economy. therfore bots that use that town will do the same. It is also the lvl group were lvling becomes slow and people are more likey to beging to bot. If people see bots in oasis and DW start to get banned it will soon get rid of any thoughts people had of botting. It would also fix alot of the messed up economies in the game.

I was going to post this in the official forums in Twysta's thread, but I don't like to use my main account there. I have a secondary account, but apparently you need to create a character before you can post....

I definitely agree with the bit about the level of trust given to employees. As for allowing outside networks into their moderating and admin programs, what about secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) technologies? There are several companies that sell technologies such as secure VPN devices that can be used in situations such as these. The company I work for specializes in this. We have a device that is FIPS 140-2 certified (not sure if that's just a US thing.) I'm sure other companies have similar things.
Joymax could set up remote offices in the US and even other countries using secure VPN technology to handle the admin traffic. Even if they don't want to use VPN, there's also the possibility of using managed network monitoring services. Hire an outside, trusted company to monitor their network 24x7 to identify intrusions, or anything that would adversely affect their security.
I wonder if Joymax puts out requests similar to US Government Requests for Proposal (RFPs) searching for such work? Then again, maybe there are issues to be dealt with if the consulting company is not based in Korea. I'm sure it can be done.

I hate bots as bad as anyone but the real problem isnt the people who cheat and cant hack real grinding and bots (ie. Player bots). The real problem are these "gold bots". If a player wants to cheat....let him, in the end he is the loser cuz he couldnt hack it doing something as simple as playing a GAME..yes its a game people.
Gold bots are the ones that will never amount to anything in sro..just a waste of space. At least a sorry player bot will one day play when they are capped and might be a cool guy. Screw it..I dunno, I hate all bots regardless.

He maybe a loser for not being able to play and having to bot, but what does that really matter when also in the end he is lvl 80 fully farmned withthe best gear, how is it all right that legit ppl cant go jobbing, because "the botters" are always there to kill them. Lvling up to catch up and be capped is pointless when they can bot overnight and get there much faster, and getting more gold, and more items, so then even if somoene legit did find say an sosun who you think they will sell it to, the legit person offerering maybe a few hundred mill they managed to get even from borrowing gold, or the botter offering 999m+ >.>?
Ya cant just "play the game", you either cant grind cus there is botters all over or cant do jobs because again they are all over, and when they do kill you they global calling you a dog and saying they ..... your mom, yes, thats real fun.
I think the player bots are worse, I mean if ppl use gold bots and get alot of gold, they at least have to lvl up themselves, and those who are legit can at least compete with that much, but I guess its as bad as just buying gold, its all pretty bad.
The thing I hate most is that the silkroad I knew is pretty much dead, I have came to the realization, "why play?" I don't really wanna work for anything in this game anymore when anyone else can just get the same thing and much more in much less time with not even doing a fraction of what I have, and theres barely any legit ppl anymore(considering the bot to player numbers).. Joymax has at least lost 1 silkbuyer for now(meaning I wont buy anymore), and I definatly would of been paying this game for a long time buying my GT's and pets, and w/e.
Sro is no longer a fun game to me, its more of an interactive chat.

That pretty much sums it up for me as well. I'm done until they do something major. And I'm not talking about cap levels, events, or even new skills.
I am the king of alchemy. Here is the proof.
And yes, that's WITH lucky powders.
And yes, that's WITH lucky powders.
The decimation of human interaction
Im a proud legit player in the silk road game, yet I would just like to point out that I WILL NOT buy silk BECAUSE I know I could buy anything with my hard earned cash only to have ro-BOTS out-do me on every count.
Im having a rest from silk road untill things get sorted out, if they dont then I guess my rest will be permanant.
There is no longer an incentive for the average player like myself to buy silk, so I`m assuming the assumption that ro-BOTers are joymax's biggest income providers is absolutly correct.
Eventually all legit players will leave, and ro-BOTers will be the only THINGS* left on silk road. Chat will be scarce (it already is) and any type of player-player interaction will be UN-common place, with the exception of stalls which more often than not are afk.
* I was going to use the term player, but a botter isnt a player, a player PLAYS the game.
When I began playing silk road I enjoyed partying with a couple of friends and grinding while chating to help stave the bordom away, havent heard from them in a while I'm assuming they left, and now so will I.
Silk road is on the path to autonamous players and the destruction of the kind of human interaction I once enjoyed. I hold little faith that this path will change, like GWBush's lust for war, Joymax seems helpless to stop the ro-BOTers lust for domination of this once great game.
Good luck to those that wish for a better silk road.
Peace,
Xenoche

Our company is not associated in any way, manner or form with illegal programs. Period.
Botters are investigated on a daily basis.
I know that you may be frustrated, but we are constantly hiring new people and looking for new ways to improve the service. It takes time to train new GMs to be acquainted with the game, its problems, issues, and the community. Our priority is to focus our resources on providing optimal support to our players.
GMs patrol the game constantly, under both their GM IDs and regular player IDs. We do not reveal the identity of our regular player IDs, and most of the time GMs will be cloaked within the game. This is so that we will not be deterred in our efforts to patrol the game.
We do listen. We are a group of passionate and dedicated people who really care, and to be honest, every single obscenity, bad word, wrong accusation, and threat really do hurt us deeply. Sure it feels good to use curse words and call us names, doesnt it? But the people on the receiving end the people who have to endure your insults, taunts, and even sexually inappropriate comments they come back to the office day after day with the same passion and devotion time and time again.
I am not saying dont complain or address your problems. All I am asking for is restraint on your part in using words that hurt others feelings and are a testament to your character.

Then i said :
Morningew,
I believe how all these complaints hurt your and the other employees feelings.
I hope you understand the reason of this topic, which is very simple.
Since the bots started overwhelming the servers we thought joymax will do something about it. Well that last ban list is simply pathetic. JM has been saying they are always investigating and banning bots.
Now, the real players like me dont want to hear that anymore. Its been like this for ages and since it is SO easy to ban bots... We just dont believe it anymore and i would really like to see a DRASTIC change. Why dont you take some one allowed to ban on just one single server for just 30 minutes, and start banning ? That would make the trust in joymax a thousand times larger.
Also you didnt answer my previous questions and i would like to hear an answer from it.

I hope morningdew is going to reply to that... im gonna keep on bumping that topic ( see page 4 for her last reply and my reply to that ).
There is no return for joymax, they didnt take care of the problem when they still could.
If there was anything that i could to make this game back to the way it was, i would do it, no matter what.
i would do ANYTHING to change the history of sro right here, right now, if i just COULD.

Great topic Twysta. JM needs to get more pressure on themselves. Will be interesting to see what they exchange gameguard with and if we are going to see results now after all the security measures being taken care of. More time dedicated to whipe out botters should be the first priority after that.

Yep.
Anyway i asked this question in the main topic on sro.net
Oh and i want you to asnwer this question as neutral as you can.
Which one of these 2 companys would you pick?
Make $5.000 dollars a day and a lot of rumors with it claiming your company is bad or having a company that makes $100 dollars a day but statisfied users AND A CHANCE it grows out to the best company in the world?
Yes, thats how silkroad is right now.
Im not giving up on this topic since she just ignored that question.
Im gonna bump it untill i get a fair answer.

Another answer avoiding the facts, and playing on emotions.
Omg you hurt us, we are trying so hard, I can't get a bf/gf.
Enough bullshit, and get down to business, JoyNax.
They say they train the people to be GMs? Wtf do they train them to do? They need to have specific jobs, and it currently seems like they have an unorganized staff that tries to do everything at once. If they got someone to check into bug reports, someone to check bots, someone to reply to customer compliants, someone to forward stuff to the office in Korea, etc...

Empty servers, with only goldbots = No one will buy silk.
With every day now u can see ppl quiting and only goldbots filling up their space.
yea sure and this helps much...No one think about the perhaps close the game so dont be silk anymore to play... when is so much BS and complaines when they do all they can..
mwahahahahaha !!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glaive
Scroll down to the bottem, under notes, you'll see the word 'Glavie'. I read this in the wikipedia article about Silkroad Online before it changed. The article also had other words spelt differently that Joymax used to maintain a little 'history'. Glavie is one of the old ways it was spelt, and is what the word Glaive originated from.

My last reply (im not giving up im gonna go on untill she Farking realizes.)
morningdew, as you can see every person on this forum agrees with me. The thread on a fansite forum silkroadforums.com has already made a few people leave.
People are now realizing joymax is neglecting their users by not banning bots.
