What's your favorite genre of books?

I like Fantasy the best; fantasy writers seem to generally be more talented and imaginative than writers from other genres.

I like all books that teach you a bit about something, whether it's relate to a location, a time in history or about the human condition. Kind of books that open your eyes up.

I used to read alot. Now I rarely do.
I like historic books though, preferably about ancient China.

Gandalf I like those books too. Have you ever read Siddhartha, for instance? I'll never forget that book, it taught me much.

Also The Life of Pii is an intense thinker. Every turn of the page I would set my book down and go 'wow...that was intense...now I have to re-think everything...'. It pits Buddhism, Hinduism, and Christianity against eachother, all within the mind of a single boy from India. He decides to adopt pieces and ideals of all three religions. It's an awesome book. Also makes you think about animals and zoo treatment; the book presents good points on both sides of that argument.

Hmm The Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe or Galaxy or whatever it was called, and the two after it are Farking awesome. Those are major thinkers too. They make your head spin with the shit they talk about, like quantum mechanics and all of this crazy stuff. Oh, and there's a talking cow. And some kinda farm-animal that is the size of a galaxy with a mouth the size of many worlds, if I remember right.

LMFAO books are the shiiiitttttt.

Fantasy in general.
Not a big fan of science fiction with some exceptions.

Hitchhikers guilde to the galaxy is a great book and for all I know to only trilogy in 5parts.

Ever read All Quiet on the Western Front? It's set in the German perspective, rather than the American of World War One. I love that book. It provides crazy insight into the mind of a soldier.

Which book are you on mane? My favorite would be ummmmm well I'll say two since they're all awesome: The Stone of Tears and The Faith of the Fallen. That's the second and the fifth. I own every single book out to date, which would be the 9th. The final book doesn't come out till freakin next year!!!!! :banghead:

I don't read any fiction at all.

I like a lot of the historical or text-book styled books. However, my library has space for classic literature (like milton)

I stick to knowledge and science fiction books.
I know some of them spell B-O-R-I-N-G but this ones interesting :twisted:

I used to read more fantasy - Eddings, Salvatore, Weis/Hickman, Pratchett. Gradually got tired of that, but I have always been a big fan of SF. I don't read nearly as much as I used to. Old favorites are the Foundation series (well, pretty much Asimov's entire catalog), Bradbury's early short story collections (Martian Chronicles, R is for Rocket, S is for Space, Long After Midnight). Catch-22 isn't SF but it's one of my favorite novels of all time. The only nonfiction I read is pretty much Socratic dialogues and other philosophical works.

What about the Ender series? It's one of the few Sci-fi books that I can really enjoy.

Yeah, I've read the four Ender books and the Bean books. All in all I preferred "The Worthing Saga" -- not that Ender is bad, I enjoyed those books a lot when I was in high school, it's just that they don't have the same effect now that they did back then.
