Money or saving life?
Ok, on the losen Friday trend of random, off the wall thoughts consider this.
If you have to choose between
a) saving a stranger's baby's live and
b) getting $1000 dollars richer
which would you choose? Don't ask why $1000 has anything to do with baby's live. Let's presume that no one will know your action and no one will judge you. You just do it because you want to do it.
Edit:
Stall's scenario:
"you're in the middle of a huge forest miles from civilization, and you there's a a river with two rafts one with a random baby and one with 1000 dollars on it and they both going down towards a waterfall and there's sharp rocks at the bottom and you can only get one raft?"
Assuming the baby's weight has no effect on your raft manuvering, and that you can stear it to safety.

read the question. NO ONE will know your choice. NO ONE will praise you or criticize you.

ok then... how much would really make you think twice?
$10,000? $100,000?
$10,000? $100,000?

No. But RuYi has a point. You can save A LOT of children with $1,000,000.

Besides, how many lifes could I save with that million if I let one child die?
That is, if I'm that noble.
We are having conversations in my Ethics class about different views on how to live a good life, choosing right and wrong. And one of the views of the many we discuss is picking what makes more people happy, or what would help more people. This topic and what RuYi said reminds me so much of it.
But no matter the amount of money, i would easily chose to save someone. I always try to put others far before myself, and thats as good a situation as any. I would even give my own life to save another.

Realistically, I think RuYi made a lot of sense and I would do that.
$1000 doesn't spread very far but with a bigger amount, I can do a lot with that.
I mean, a stranger's baby is a stranger's baby right? Why can't you let one die to save a lot and give some to myself?
It's not ethically the right thing to do (I think), but it's the logical thing to do.

small amount for charitable organisations.
and am sure that goes for some of you out there as well
This relates to the thread, how?
because even if people took 1million over the baby with the intention
of helping charities to make up for it...peoples greed sets in and they
wont want to give a lot of the money away

With the exception of few, everyone is willing to save a child's life over $1,000. But, are you willing to give at least $10 to save one?

I wouldn't. I believe that everyone should strive for the best. When I become a father I would rather put all my effort into him/her, expecting other parents to do the same. If the child was born with bad parents, that isn't my responsibility - i'm not Jesus, I don't save.
But of course, for the baby at hand - it would depend on me. If I were on welfare with a family to feed and bills to pay I would take the money. If it were now, i'd save the baby.
