I had been wondering about this for a long long time already...
How to get your face/portrait showing at the top-left corner????

On my wife's PC it shows as a blue dot, on mine its the face. Leads me to believe it's video card related. Her's blows.

Try updating your video card drivers.
I used to have that problem too way back in the day.
