STR Fire Glaive vs. Hybrid INT Spear builds

Which do you think is stronger, more interesting to play, and generally better? I'm hoping to hear some opinions about this as I'm trying to decide between these two builds for my character. Both PvE and PvP are going to be important, and also leveling speed and general rarity (there are way too many STR fire glaivers out there...) So, which one do you think is better??

Judging from your overall tone of your post, I think you'd be veering more toward the Hybrid Spear. It is stronger (in raw power, not including crits), and definitely more interesting, although I cannot comment on the "better" part. It levels faster than a glaiver, and as you said, there are many more glaivers than hybrid ints.

It is given that an int based character does well in PvE.
But hybrid spears also do well in PvP, especially if you have good gear and are farmed, etc.

Str = strong, can go afk and not worry about dying as long as pots are on becuase you tank the shit. Good for pvp cuase you are ahrd to kill. THE TERMINATOR.

Hybrid= (i was) If you dont kill shit fast and they gangbang you , well lets jsut say, YOUR DEAD. Hybrid is cool in pvp and i can kill fast.


Overall, do what you think sounds more fun, and go with your gut instinct.

well, u also have to take into consideration the amount of sp you'll need for each build. for int based u generally need more sp than pure str, especially for a int hybrid. because you'll be relying on your weapon skills more than a pure int, and at the same time you need your nukes. pure str on the other hand needs less sp because they don't use nukes, so basically buffs and weapon skills.

Like Sin said, I think you'd like the hybrid better. Interesting because you got more skills to play with, stronger damage-wise (not tank-wise of course), and less common.

Though in MasterWong's hybrid spear guide he says you'll need to be patient enough to get to the 40+'s before you get good.

You seem more interested in the int hybrid.. and if done correctly it can be a powerful and still hard to kill build in PvP.. you will lack the defense of the shield but spear hybrids hit harder than swords like anything else two handed weapons do deal more dmg-

I personally have a Str fire glaive hybrid -- I put in about 27 points into int that pushed my phy balance up to 102 -- could probably go to 104 or 105 if i got perfect str on my 72-77 set and my magical balance is 52-- maybe possible for 54 or so-- I hit harder than glaivers with weapons 3 or more +'s higher than me with same masteries .. but i do crit just a little less hard-- still very effective crits though- I stuck with garments so nukers have a horrible time with me
