Post by nlspoh »

I was wondering how many times i have to alch my weap and shield to make them look shiny (I jus like the look, and have a ton of spare elixars). Well so far, I've gotten my next level shield and blade to look like this (although i cant use it yet)...

Yeah they already shine! I guess you can't tell cuz you cannot equip them yet =]

Nice work getting +3 but you really should find better plain stuff to pimp up. Crit 6 blade = yuck. br11 shield = yuck.

Cheers.

Yea, i know...but i got them dirt cheap and they were already at +1, so i decided to experiment a bit. I'll find better ones next time.

Sorry I'm new to alchemy, but if i want to add attributes to these items, I use stones; and these stones are made from tablets? I'm guessing these tablets have to be the same deg as the items, so my stash of 4th deg tablets in storage will be useless. Anyway, how do i make stones form tablets when i get some 5th deg ones?

every type of mob you can kill has the potential to drop certain alchemy items. they usually have names like "broken spear" or "desert sand" or "bloody cloth". buy a bunch of "Void rondos" from the jewelry npc, open the alchemy window, and put them into the slot on the left. then place these alchemy drops into the slots on the right. when you hit "Fuse", the alchemy items will be broken down into elements.

once you have those elements, you can use them to turn tablets into stones. look at the description of the tab; on the bottom, it'll tell you how many of which elements you need in otder to make a stone out of it. example: an 8th degree tablet may say "wind lvl8 (20), fire lvl 4 (182), earth lvl 8 (80), water lvl 4 (48)". the number in parentheses () is the amount you need to make that stone.

stone in hand, you can now place the item into the left slot on the 2nd tab in the alchemy window (the name of which escapes me at the moment). place the stone in the right-hand slot, and hit fuse. you have a chance of succeeding or failling. if you fail, no harm, no foul... you just wasted some elements and a tab. if you succeed, four things can happen:

a) the stat you are trying to affect be added (in the case of jade stones) or increased (in the case of ruby stones or jade stones where the attribute is already present)
b) the stat you are trying to affect will stay the same (in the case of either stone)
c) the stat you are trying to affect will be lowered (again, works for either stone type)
d) any of the above happens, AND "Attribute Assimilation" occurs.

Attribute Assimilation means that a different stat than the one you were trying to affect gets changed by the success of the stone you used. each stone has a precent chance of assimilation listed on it (they usually range from 10%, 20%, or 30%, but i've seen as low as 5% and as high as 35%; a sleect few stones always have 0% assimilation chance, such as astral, lucky, immortal, and steady). when the stone succeeds, there's a % chance equal to the stone's assimilation chance that a different stat will be affected AS WELL AS the one you were going for. this assimilation can be positive, negative, or neutral just as before, but my experience is that it nearly always goes down :P

hope that helps. good luck alchemizing, and don't let it become an addiction. i spent over 60mil trying to fix the crit on my spear, and it's still only 7.

So im just wondering, i alched my blade again to +4 without any problems. If i try once more at +5, i hear that there is a chance that i will go back to +0 if it fails? Unless it has immortal attribute and resets it to +4 if it fails (or sumthing like that)? If this is so, which tablet/stone adds this immortal attribute, and i'm guessing it'll have to be the same degree as the weapon.
Anyway, thanks for the info, it really helped a lot.
