you just got a shitload of bullshit data being sent to a tiny GM team 24/7/365

lets say theres 20,000 players per server, we know theres way mroe then that in each.

10 servers,

10 x 20,000 = 200,000 individual streams of data, differing from 5 minutes play "ah i logged in! but its tyoo laggy, i'll try later" to a 24/7 botter. constantly moving, constantly recording packets from each individual player.

it doesnt log all data. its like this.
real time analyzer acts like a packet sniffer, only it sniffs locations.
you have a list of 20 locations and therefore 20 sniffers (faster than having one sniffer run through an array of 20 locations)

1 - sniffer1 is looking for users at 4568 by 1302 known bot cordinate
2- player X is detected there.
3- sniffer1 adds this data to the database
"player X at 4568 by 1302"

4 - sniffer2 is looking for users at 3589 by 1602 known bot cordinate.
5 - sniffer2 detects player Y there.
6 - sniffer2 adds this data to the database
"player Y at 3589 by 1602"

7 - sniffer2 detects player X there.
8 - sniffer2 adds this data to the database
"player X at 3589 by 1602"

now with 20 sniffers, you have the analyzer (not a person an application) say if player has more than 15 bot cordinates, flag. that list of flagged accounts is then sent to GMs. combine that with reports from other players and other dection methods.

Demarthl wrote:no you cant just cut off a zone "anyone who plays over 12 horus is a bot"

thats bullshit, i owed SuicideGrl 14 mil on the event where we got special id cards and black devil suits, i grinded 18 hours straight and earnt that money back. 18 freakin hours.

"im sorry if someone grinds 10 hours a day every day. something just might be wrong."

read the part that says EVERY DAY. i said just might be wrong. the trick isnt to use one method of test. but to collect and cross check data and only present the best to GMs.

and on top of the work they al;ready have to do, aswell as go through protocals and routines, log down their actions, copy the logs, file them, send them to the boss who checks them, sends them to his boss, who draws a smiley face on it and hides it in a huge vault kinda like that place in the indiana jones film, but indexed so if someone does somethign wrong it can be dug up and resolved.

time?

still way too long

well if i was managing it, id have them cross check either other. same way i do stuff when in IT. i run my stuff by another person. if you really wanna get paranoid make it a 3 way vote. (if JM has 3 GMs).

you have to remeber that just a START of what can be detected / logged.
lets say you took the list made of people who play for more than 10 hours a day CONSITENTLY. then you record their actions to disk. you run an analyzer on them that looks for bot like issues (its automated). say wall humping. so the program runs through 5 days of logs and finds that a char has 3 instances of wall humping. each 15 mintues long.

at this point the GM can use a replay app to see for themselves what the player was doing.

something you may not understand is that this doesnt add to what GMs have to do. unless they are spending NO TIME on bots it lessens the time they spend. because it filters player data for them to show most probable bot activity.

and if you think it would take too long, got anything better? because the current system just might take too long too.

The player botters buy silk and Joymax sell it.

It's that simple

oh dude .... please

don`t you think Joymax would get a lot more customers if there were no goldbots and levelling bots?
almost every serious sro players should buy silk that is the purpose of silk.

How long into playing this game before you even realise there is a problem with bots?

Until you have progressed quite a few levels, or read about it on forum or a higher level guild mate/friend tells you about it. Until that point, and until your own experiences make it clear.

I posted it before but I don't mind posting it again.

I used to work in the field of marketing high-end pc hardware, and the market is linked to gaming markets such as this one that Joymax is tapping into.

The Youth market is a huge ever-expanding market, and the major reason why Joymax will never saturate their client-base with their pathetic management of this game.

100 players left this week........1000 joined.

Also, as technology becomes more accessible to the people in "3rd World" countries we see a constant stream of new users from these countries who "buy" the idea of this "free" game, become addicted to certain elements of this game and choose to buy silk (as a nice by-product of countries becoming more technologically enabled, and the resulting creation of a new middle-class and the children of this new "wealthier" class, who have access to parents credit cards and so on).

And you make my point, although I think your conclusion is flawed, in that all serious players do buy silk, but that no Joymax will not get more players if they were to ban the player botters because many players have come to this game for the reason that industry-wide it is a well-known fact that Joymax are lazy in policing it's "anti-botter" rules, and people know it.

I would imagine that you are not a very high level player because you are unaware of the proportion of legit players to botted players, and that Joymax is completely aware of these numbers and knows that these players do buy silk.

They do not put any real energy into banning these players because they will lose too much revenue.

They really don't have to, all they have to do is create the impression of action, as they have done with the Morningdew persona, and many "optimistic" people will "buy" the idea that Joymax is doing something.

Demarthl wrote:a gm staff of what? 5 people?

And this is the proof that Joymax don't plan to do a thing about player botters.

i play this game over WoW coz one of the the first things i saw after i got a guest pass, installed the game, registered, created char, played teh game was... a bot. not humping a wall, but actually trying to ram it. lol!

so there, where JM may not be obviously doing something, you guys only see things from your own perspective. and pass judgement from that. amon-ra, you seem to know a lot, i don't that's why i don't say anyhting against JM for now.
i'm a grateful grape

I actually did that thing in Mixmax's Sig!

Firstly, I took a considerable amount of time to express an opinion, so don't write me off as some simpleton Dem. At no point have I suggested the solutions involved in fixing the numerous problems with this game would be easy.

What in the phuck are you talking about? Why would I rather have a larger team of GM's that have no patience and would ban a player for asking a simple question?

We clearly heard the Morningdew character express this admitted inadequacy in her/his post on official site last week, claiming they can't find people to add to the existing overworked staff. And it is implicit in your response that 5 GM's can't do what is necessary (assuming that Joymax would actually want to kick silk-buying player-botters).

Do you now suggest that more staff would create a worse situation?

And how could a cranky GM be any worse than the 99.99% lack of communication we now have from GM's

If you wish to discuss this then by all means respond to the numerous points I've made and expressed clearly, but why would you even waste your time posting such nonsense?

hes right on the fact they need to choose GM's carefully. however joymax is still ignoring lots of technical options to make the GM's more efficient. as my friend pointed out last night.

why not have an in reporting fuction?

Stop making excuses for Joymax Demarthl.

6 months ago we had 5 GM's, today we have 5 GM's to service how many servers? This isn't a new problem, it's the same shit from 6 months ago and they've still done nothing and you use this argument to suggest that their inaction is acceptable?

You say I am expecting Joymax to rush out and not check by hiring the wrong staff, well I must say you have a different idea of the word "rush" than I do.

Your point makes no sense.

There is no rushing, there is no strolling, there is no crawling, there is no action except the creation of an overworked mouthpiece that cries "overworked and sick". We only see a character clearly created to be as visible as possible, to run around on a few servers to create the impression of action (and nothing more).

Demarthl, it is obvious to anyone who has been watching these events closely that Joymax are making the absolute minimal effort they can and are plainly not dealing with this situation.

You see what I did here Dem? I replied to the point you made.

The rumor saying they don't ban the bots because they buy silk, isn't yet proved. Untill then, i don't believe anything they say. I mean, c'mon how hard is it to go into Takla and start banning? I'm starting to believe that rumor more and more. They don't hire SA's/GM's because they don't want the world to know they don't ban the bots because they simply buy silk.

Tho, i do believe they are working hard on new updates. It's just the fact that it's SO easy to hire some people in that go into takla/penons/bunwangs and all and just start banning. Easy as that. There are tons of ppl that will actually do it for free!

no you just replied with the same old blind bullshit that you and every other half assed voice has. i'm not interested in replying to your points, why? because you never actualyl listen, you're too ignorant to realise the full depth of anythign going on, you throw your rattle out of your pram and expect an army of GM-mom's to come rushing along to help you out.

i'm not wasting any more of my time one this crap, i'm actualyl going to go play the game, enjoy it, and keep cheering on the GM's, because they are working.

ooh i just thought of something, you know doomsayers? those peopel shouting the end is nigh all the time? this is you, shouting and crying about flase rumours, all mouth no facts. thats right, you cant prove joymax arent working! you only have complaints, which are opiions, not hard facts.

i have facts they are working, check out the bot block updates we occasionally have, image verification, plenty of evidence there.

have your cake and eat it, good day.

Congrats

that sure is a real mature reaction  , anyway i wont quote the whole story you replied to me and i don`t need to explain myself about what level i am and the experience i have in the game, the fact that you try to bring me down by using the "you are a noob so you know shit and i am a marketing blabla so i know it all" is enough reason for me to conclude even if you are a mature you don`t act like one.
First of all i play this game long enough to exactly know at least on my server who is a bot and who is not (talking about the 64 to 74 players)

I do realise there are more bots who buy silk.
in fact Most just buy silk for 1 or 2 months then stop doing it after they got capped (talking about the lvl 70 cap) they will do the same right now.
Every company goal is to keep their customers happy no matter what and to get as much profit as you can and if you think logically they dont earn a lot money on bots just because they grind longer and need less silk to get to a certain level.

It is that simple the less botters even those who buy silk the better it is for Joymax i really wonder how good your marketing skills are because you should realise that having all those bots who buy silk is far far less than they could get (profit) when having clean servers, so don`t tell me Joymax does not care about this problem. they lose more and more money because more and more people are going to bot the more bots the less silk they will get eventually( it is simply cheaper to bot these days than buy silk to get to your desired level).

I want to grind bot free like i got used to for couple weeks (a week or 2 :D).

I do understand that the crew is so minimal and that the first option on the agenda right now is the security since they kinda got smashed in the face they finally woke up about that security and i rather be secure and live with these bots than worry all the time about my account, and if i remember it correctly they were doing a nice job before this security stuff if they kept it that way we would have less bots right now.

criticism is great but at least try having decent logical explanation and understand the big picture instead of whining about the small lines.

I have already explained very clearly why this is not so, but you disagree and that's fine so how about explaining just how you see Joymax making more money if they were to ban (or stop) them from botting?

I have explained in detail why the Joymax market is ever-expanding (to a point obviously) and that the numbers of users joining are exceeding those leaving.

So, by doing the pathetic little that they have done in the past 6 months they enjoy the ongoing profits being generated by their excessive number of under managed servers, by simply ignoring the problem.

The solution to this problem would involve greater capital investment (whether this solution be manpower or software based) than Joymax are prepared to spend.

Joymax know their market bro, that's all.

If it was in Joymax's best interests they would have resolved it 6 months ago. If you don't get it, that's cool.

Peace.
