Metal is too general... I listen to Black Metal, but i hate power, glam, some bands from death metal... I'm agreeing with stallowned on this one

Umm I don't listen to it myself, but classic rock like The Beach Boys, Styx, Neil Diamond...that shits pretty cool too, but like I said, you won't find it on my Itunes. I've got friends that listen to that stuff though, and I can dig it.

Green day isn't punk rock, it's either rock, pop something you might name poppunk.

But the earlier work by green day is better as the new one, alltough the greenday concert 2 years ago was a great one.

Senseless labels for a simple genre of music? That is seriously the most ignorant thing i ever heard. Metal is probably one of the most complex genres in music today, so complex theres many different variations of it which i listed already and there is a point for the new genres. Some bands can be lets say labeled as power metal, which is a pretty broad genre of metal and lets take 2 power metal bands, lets say Rhapsody and Dragonforce. If u listen to both of these bands ull find they do have a difference in sound, though they are in the same genre. Rhapsody is more of a epic syphonic power metal and Dragonforce is more of a speed power metal and theres an obvious difference in the sound.

Also these labels arent just for record companies, most metalheads will use them alot also to try to describe a bands sound because it helps in explaining a bands sound because for some bands just saying something like power metal or black metal isnt enough. That and usually most metalheads have their favorite sub genre of metal and usually when asked they wont simply say they like metal itll sound more like "yea i like thrash and some black metal" or "yea i like shread and speed metal"

You don't need to explain metal to me, it used to be my only interest and I was in a metal band for about two years. But every genre has it's own perfections and it's own flaws.

All I'm saying is recently music has taken a turn and it's almost as if when a new "metal" band comes into play with a new instrument involved it automatically deserves it's own sub genre. Aside from metal, I'll use Screamo and Emo, both genres scream and sound emo.
