Running sro on two accounts on the same computer
Is it possible?
This isnt' a question of whether it would lag/whether my computer is good enough or whatever.
I had posted a similar thread in tech help several months ago, but it only got two replies.
Anyway, since I don't have two computers I want to be able to run sro on my mom's account to stall, while I am running sro on my account to do whatever.
What used to happen is I would "switch user" on windows, but in the process sro would either close or get disonnected.
Anyway today I decided to try it out and created a second on sro that I would use as the staller, and I logged in that on my windows acount, then minimized sro and "switched user" to my mom's account, this time sro didn't get closed or disconnected. I launched sro, and typed in my username/password did the image verification dealy, but then it gave me the fail to connect c10 error.
I'm assuming that you can't be connected more than once with the same IP address?
Wouuld there be any way to get it to work?

Care to explain more?
For now, you can do this (since there is no gameguard):
Open silkroad the normal way, then go back to where you have the silkroad.exe file, right click on it, click Run As, select a different user than the first silkroad is running on and that should work.

Why is everyone saying there is no gameguard?
Gameguard loads for me when I start sro

after it will be disconnected.
Before they use to work... I do that but after the update few months ago... You need proxy or fake IP to log on 2 client on same PC

start sro, then log off and go on the other, sro will still be running.
am i a genius or what?
Errr, that log off part is wrong. Once you log off, all running programs will be closed. Including your SRO client.
Use "Switch User" instead of "Log off User".
A reason why SRO never improved, it came from our beloved SRO seniors.
Had given my account to my Guildmate, raising a new char.

I can't link to a specific reply so I'll repost what I've said in my (now buried) thread about this topic:

I'm a programmer, I'm sureI verfified many many times by going tohugh the code and testing, it's not there.
Easiest way to show it is to open up Silkroad, hit ctr + alt + delete. You will see sro_client.exe and its 300+ MB memory usage. If you read up on GameGuard, you will see that it does "Process Cloaking". That is so programmers cant open the process and read/write memory to and from it. If you are still not convinced, you could write yourself your own little AutoIt script / program to read memory from the game and it will work.
The fact my demo / any program you do yourself works further confirms that GG is not running. Heck, move your GameGuard folder in your SRO directory to your dekstop and run SilkRoad and you will still see the logo (because its in the pk2 file) and file come up.
Hope that's enough to convince!
Oh and Stallowned, multi-client is not possible now though any ordinary programming / modifying of the client. They changed it so you can only connect on one PC [not you can connect from the same IP still on a different computer]

I heard the "virtual" video card is not good enough to run sro.
Just what I heard

Oh damn,
Thanks for the detailed response though.
I guess I'll just have to keep stalling at night.

you could do that if you had a program that allows you to have a virtual windows but you need to have alot of ram to run two clients at once on once pc it gets kinda slow as it is on my pc..lol

Or you could go all evil and dark by getting yourself ' softmod '. You could run multiple accounts like as many as your comp can handle. Hm hm.
But any-who VMW sux tho, I tried it before and it gave me DirectX errors, and even when it did work it looked like shit. Best thing to do is to well no clue, I hardly ever stall anyways, and if I need soemthign to be stalled I just ask someone who actually has the ability to stall and i'll pass him a few items.
I think.
