Auto-Patcher / Update Problem

Post by phrostbyte »

Hello, I was wondering if theres any way that I could make my auto-patcher work well.
Each time I open the game, it starts updating the first file and the whole program closes and exits after.
If theres any way I can get the newest patch for Beta 3, please let me know.

Heres a picture of the first file. The program exits right after its done downloading the first file.

If that link doesnt work try without the http//

Need a little more information. Have you tried reinstalling? Are you connected through a firewall or router? If so, have you checked to see if this is not the problem?

The first file any game's autoupdater seems to grab is generally a list of "files user needs to download". If it fails directly after downloading that, I'm suspicious that something may be corrupted, and I'd suggest reinstalling the game.

Without more info, I can't suggest much more. :(

I've tried re-installing it quite a few times. I'm not connected through any firewalls that could block the program nor a router.

See, I get ALOT of corruptions with my computer games. Like all the games that contain cabinet (.cab) files and such will error during the installation because of a corruption.

I was wondering, do you think it could be my Hard Drive? It's quite an old computer... Intel Pent 3 800mhz processor, 384mb RAM, 128mb video card with a 20gb hard drive...

Do you think it could be my Hard Drive causing all those corruptions? Should I purchase a new one?

-Thanks

Nobody is going to chase you around on MSN just to answer your question. Post questions here on the forum and check it for replies later. That's what it's here for.

Phrostbite- Hmm... it could possibly be your harddrive. Does it make strange noises when it's being accessed? Does it take a long time to access information?

I'm also concerned about your specs. I don't think you meet minimum requirements for RAM, but I could be wrong. In any case, your system will definitely struggle to play Silkroad at all.

Hi.

I have the same problem too. And i do not think that it is the computer's fault. I have a kinda good computer, 1 gig ram, good graphics card, etc. And i still get that error. When i first open the patcher, the patcher updates the first file, and then automatically closes.

Does anyone else have a solution? I can't post it on the official SilkRoadOnline forums because some smart people decided that players should create a character before they can post anything on the forums -_-

Edited: Oh great. I just searched the official webpage, and i think those smart people who created the site forgot something... there are NO contact emails or Help Emails available.. *thinks over*

It's a corrupted file when you install. I won't even try tweaking it since I know I won't be able to play SRO without having outstanding lag. So I just play at my friend's.

Current PC specs:
863Mhz Intel Processor
384MB RAM
128MB ATI Video Card
20GB Hard Drive

I'm getting myself a new computer hopefully soon enough...
I'll be jumping from those specs to these:

AMD 4200 X2 Dual Core Processor
256MB Nvidia 6600 PCI-Express Video Card
1Gig DDR RAM
160-200 GB SATA Hard Drive
Gigabyte Pro-SLI Motherboard
