Do you think Joymax should do something about lost accounts?

Post by Sagan33 »

I am just wondering what are all your thoughts on Joymax doing something about people that lost thier characters due to their "Insecurities"?

I am just bringing this up here b/c my old character was taken b/c of this. I also know it is not likely Joymax will do anything about this. I also didn't understand when they wrote this
Date of Application : 2007/1/23

[Email Verification]

- To use important functions within the web, users will be required to enter a code that is sent via email.
- After this system is applied, there will be limits in changing personal information.
- Those who have lost their password will be able to regain their password through this email verification.
- There is also intention of preventing account stealth.

Is this for the current E-mail address? Because if so the hacker will never be able to lose my character then!

Just wondering everyones thoughts on this....

Wheew good. I thought I was the only one confused
Any other ideas about what this update means or maybe a GM passing by that could clarify would be great.

"Should", well if they wanted to really build up a great customer support rep, then yes.

"Realistically", it would cost more money than they'd make in return, since this is a F2P game. And bills don't take "good deeds" as compensation :(

There's no "backwards" actions that can be done, I'd think I mean. Once they implement it, then it will be a "from then on" kind of deal.

That webdev team over there should be fired. They have mangled that site so bad they might as well just start over.

WHY ARE YOU STILL USING THE SECRET QUESTION THE CHANGE THE PASSWORDS?!?!?!

Good God JM. This is horribly retarded. I mean look at those questions. LOOK AT THEM. Birthplace. 99% of the time i can google your character name, get a real name, and then google your name and get a birthplace, all of a sudden i have reset your password and have access to your account.

Lets be relatively intelligent here. The second someone get a hold of a single table in your database, they have FULL access to everyones accounts because of this retarded "feature", and you guys wont know what the hell happened. At least by getting rid of this all that a person has is an excrypted password and a handle.

Ok, I understand the e-mail thing if that's correct, you will be sent a message to your e-mail to be able to change your password not using the secret answer, if they did that I hope they remove secret questions cause alot are easy and some are forgotten so if someone else knew them that would be bad and no point in having this new security.

However can someone explain to me about what is account stealth and how they could prevent it?

I would really appreciate it if JM would return recently stolen characters to their rightful owners. It's clear they had some huge security holes; least they can do is make things right for their loyal customers.
