I don't see what's so harmless about drinking gallons upon gallons of water and trying to hold in it for as long as you can...
Being able to piss is there for a reason.

It's like if air was being pumped into you and you were to not breathe out anymore, eventually something bad would happen.
Or eating and eating and eating and eating and eating some more, and not going number two for weeks upon weeks.

When you drink too much you get a hypoglycemic dip and the brain is deprived of glucose.and in a worse case scenario this can lead to death.

Consider it to be a fatal effect.

Haha yah I live near Sacramento so I actually get the station. It was a really popular morning show, but the people did that one stupid thing and now i think the show is canceled and the DJs got fired.

Yah it was on the news. As mentioned in the link, there was a call right before that said like literally, "this contest could be really dangerous" and they only said "whatever, not our fault, it's the people's choices" in a very indifferent tone.

I can explode but it's not likely.

Bladder rupture can happen if there is some kind of obstruction. The only medical references I read of this happening by "holding it" are with patients that had a recent previous injury or surgery to their bladder.

If it does happen, it certainly won't burst or explode just like your appendix doesn't burst or explode. What happens is that it develops a tear and the fluid leaks out and the pressure is relieved. This fluid will go into your body and cause sepsis or septic shock which is usually fatal if not treated immediately.
