Hunter advancement

I am going to be a hunter and was wondering if I advance through the completion if the merchant run, or just by killing the thieves along the way?

killing npc thieves and player thieves
u dont need to get the caravan to the other side

i think thats in a later update...way later

btw lvling up hunter does not effect anything

I thought it made you hit harder on NPC and Player thieves. Or is that in the next few updates?
