Using elixirs on SoX items

Hello guys.... I have a really simple question (or so i think). When you use a weapon elixir on a SoX item, is there a chance for the SoX attribute to be removed if the elixir + fails?

Any help would be appreciated.

SOS, SOM, SOSun can never leave the weapon.
