Yes, it is possible to do a 5 star alone. No question about it. But not worth the time it takes to bring it to safety.
And to answer that last question of yours: Yes I more or less always do 1 stars, with an exception once in a while if the union is running together or I'm up for some pvp.
Reason: Botted characters that are roaming the server. Not interested in feeding their ego. Its big enough allready. Since I don't care that much about pvp either atm, 1 stars are perfect for me. The gold isn't that much of a reason why I trade. More of a way to do other things then grind. Though the day I don't see one botted characters in this game anymore, I promise I will never ever do a 1 star again. But I doubt that will ever happen.
