How do people get so much gold?

Post by wyrdness »

I'm pretty new to SRO, so I've been reading some guides and stuff. The SP farming one sounded like a good idea, so I set out to do it and rolled up a new archer character like suggested.

Yet these guides all say you have to have the best bow you can buy, at least +3 so you can 1 shot kill bandit archers... Seems easy enough so far, but then I come to buy a bow in preparation for level 16 and they're all really expensive. I'd have to gold grind for weeks to be able to afford one, so instead I decided to just raise all my skill masteries that I hadn't been doing and will try to SP farm later on.

Are these guides all aimed for second characters who can use funds from the first to equip them, or am I just doing something wrong? I just can't seem to make more than 20,000G in a normal run before needing more potions (which then significantly decrease my profit) and all the green/blue monsters at this level don't give out enough gold to be worth hunting :-/

Try to befriend someone with gold =)

Get to know them well enough, might buy you a nice bow so they can get GP while you're farming? Just a thought, a dumb one at that.

You're doing something wrong. When I was below lvl 20 on my first char I was getting like 50k per trip. After selling all of the drops + repairs + pots I would have like 30-40k. It adds up, and you can begin capitalizing very soon.
Peace.

Bah! Sucks to be me I guess! :)

At least I'll be able to level now and get away from those damn Yeoha tree things, just because I'm not paying them attention anymore is no reason to green-flame ball my passing horse!

Wow, what were you killing to get 50k? How long were your runs? I could probably kill mre Yeoha's, but usually I have to beat other people/ bots to them all that it's barely worth my time :-/

You MUST be able to get some profit from the event that's going on? One identity card/black devil suit could completely change your income.

I had a main account on Xian but then switched to redsea (meaning I have a buttload still sitting on Xian). Anyway I started redsea with nothing around the beginning of the thanksgiving event, and now I have an SoS+3 Lvl 24 sword and 3 mil in the bank.

Grind grind grind...

Yeah, it's impossible to make the money without any help at your level. And the event depends on your luck. Currently, the best thing I get are Moving Speed Scrolls.

The best thing to do is find a nice guild and join it. Someone who is level 16 in our union got a SOS bow Level 16 he borrowed from someone else in the union. And it's his first char.

Well true, I am making some profit from that, but mostly I seem to get special return scrolls and moving scrolls which I can only sell for low prices. I haven't received one devil suit or identity card yet :( I'm going to continue to be hopeful though, I do have a bit longer to try and get something good to sell on. Maybe I'll get a decent bow before christmas :)

As to everyone else, your suggestions make sense and I'm hoping to join a guild soon, but it's supposedly a pretty new one so they may not have the funds/ equipment to spare. To be honest though I prefer to work hard to buy my own equipment, I think it takes away some of the fun if you get handed a ton of cash to spend or equipment to use by someone else as all you're left with then is the grind towards level cap. I was more wondering how people could afford these expensive bows at level 16 and how they were getting that amount of money, so I got my answer :)[/quote]

i give you one advice. join a guild that has a few high lvls, meaning people in the 40+ because these are the players that go on TRADE runs. this method will be your main income source for your later lvls or that 2nd char.

This is what i did, i got my 1st character to lvl 40, got all of his suits all of his supplies and started a new char and right now im farming a new char at 16+3 with a sos bow.

Event is a gold maker.

Also, sell WIND 2 and other elements by picking up alchemy materials and destorying your junk equipment. You'll easily hit millions.

Investment is somehow the best way though.

Can be one or more of the following.

1. Get really lucky with a drop (seal weapon generally.)
2. Some people have all the time in the world to play the market, they buy low/sell high, spend all their time stalling.
3. Some people are still somewhat rich from when item mall stuff was still tradeable. I myself made 35mil or so selling that stuff. Have 18 still, and could stall a bunch of stuff and make it more than that easy.
4. Gold buyers, a reality in every mmo.

...begging is the worst thing you can do. Although it may work, ppl look down at you with disrespect. I suggest joining a respectable guild. AND MAKE SURE YOU STAY WITH THEM. i hate it when ppl join guilds just so they can leech off them. if you join a respectable guild and get to know ppl, you will actually have fun.

Or you could just ignore BlazenDynamo, and use a more respectful way to gain money, one that wont have every legit/non legit hunting your ass till the day you die.

Congrats BlazenDynamo, you're a cock, same as any other person who keeps one account legit, and bots another one and claims legitness.

Oh, ok, you're weak and a cock, my character is doing just fine, and I don't have to scam anyone for anything. Grow some balls, and play the game how it should be played.

Edit: On that note, I'm going to bed, I'll read any replies when I wake up before going to work.

trade runs are a huge waste of time. The money you make from it is minimal. If you're looking to make real money create a stall character and run it 24/7 on a 2nd comp. Price good items -HIGH-. It'll take longer to sell, but what do you care, it costs nothing. Search for low priced sos items (I recommend lvl 32) and sell em for more. Spend an hour a day checking stalls for cheap items that you can resell for more. Doing this I had 10m and sos weapon by lvl 32. 25m and sos wep at 42 etc etc. Know your market and buy and sell smart, you'll be rich in no time. :)

hey...you're discouraging them from trade run. without them, there wont be any money flowing from one player to another. though, it makes the server poor... thats the effect...
