Note that the following message is not actually for this forum, I just want you guys to tell me what you think of it. I am posting it on the actual SilkRoadOnline forums.

I'm going to go through this once and once only. Let's begin with a question. Why the hell is everyone so angry when SRO is down for maintenance or server inspections etc. Seriously, the game is practically FREE TO PLAY. Yes you may be able to buy certain items, but it is not essential to gain full advantage of the game.

If your so sick of the maintenance and downtimes for the FREE game, then don't bother playing. Go off to your $22 a month games that have perfect servers and no downtime.

I'm not taking a dig at everyone, just the people who need to stop, think and realise that this game is FREE TO PLAY.

Maybe instead of sitting on the forums 24-7 complaining about the server downtime, you could go out, party, see a movie, go to the park, read a book. They are all basic, simple soloutions to your time.

If you disagree, then tell someone who cares other then the decent people on this game.

To add to that, I hear WoW and other similar games have their fair share of downtimes too, so even subscribers for money have to deal with it.

It's nothing new but I think the fact the game IS free makes people feel they are free to whine too. *shrug*

I agree with you for the most part.

The thing you should also think off,is the fact that it's a very addictive game,and it's fun to play,and provides much needed fun and distraction to many people across the world,many people have high level characters (Like myself) that spend weeks upon weeks playing the game,and gradually growing in level etc,etc,when the servers are down or they have some form of update going on,or they are handling the botters (Pun intended) they take away the fun it provides.

People want to get theire money worth. :wink:

This guy has no arguments for anything. He just says the same old shit that most dumb americans say: "dont like it dont play it" and "its free, so dont complain". And then of course, he plays the "get a life" card.

You know what im sick and tired of, its idiots like him who just dont get that if something sucks, it sucks regardless of if it costs money or not.

If he doesnt care if someone disagrees, then why the f u c k does he even post? Perhaps he should stop reading the ..... threads after seeing what they are about - seems like something he would agree with - "dont like it, dont do it"

i never complain bout downtime its usually when im bout to go to sleep
1am-5am is when it happens est time, average i mean

so if im not tired i just go watch tv,movie or play ksro,CS, etc.

most mmorpg have downtime even the P2P ones.
get use to it, if not dont play online games

I am just sick and tired of people not talking about Silkroad. And by that I mean really talk about it. I.e. thief strategies, trade strategies, leveling tips, stuff about the game itself rather than:
* People that bot, scam, ccf, hack
* Dumb drama (not competition, but drama)
* Utterly useless crap

The content in the Q/A, Guides, and Character skills should be what this site revolve around, how to get better at SRO and enjoy it. Not as it is with all of the above currently.

Oh well, as they say, if you don't like it, make something better yourself.

Meh, what exactly is there to say anymore. The guides are all written, the FAQ answers every question asked really. No edrama makes a boring game. There is no strategies, do anything and the bots come forth in numbers to oppose you. Level wherever you can find mobs and few bots. That is all that is left. CCF beats you anyway.

Look I understand why people get annoyed, and like I said I wasn't taking a dig. I just wanna try and make the community more enjoyable instead of being flooded by people complaining. I dont wanna have to worry about my messages not being read because people spam about them not getting on.

And for the person who called me a "dumb american" then you can bugger off. I am a true blue aussie thank you very much, so got back to your stupid non-english speaking crowds and have fun with your ugly women.

-Complaining is just a natural condition of the human race, it's a lot easier, funnier, more "comfortable" and less time-demanding than doing anything else, and for many people it'd seem as their only weapon against what they dont like, so they won't ever stop it as well.

-there are 2 kind of players in this game (generally talking, there are many exceptions too, i know): 1- the guys that play 1-20 hrs a MONTH and are wishing to finish some quest or whatever. 2- the guys that play every day, or almost and want to become the "ultimate pwner" or at least a "great hero" as the game suggests. U can expect anyone of this 2nd group to advise u about general features of the game, but they won't tell their secrets/strategies/tactics to unknown people because this big climate of untrust generated by Botters/scammers/CCfers. Whats my point?: We cannot expect people to talk puntually about sins (bots-ccfs) or their game knowledge. They just will talk about ANYTHING related to SRO and that is OK as those are probably the 2 main topics of this game.

-Complaining is never ending because of this: as sro community is so wide, there are as many preferences as people gaming. When 2 different preferences coincide in a forum, complain and arguments are ENSURED, we cannot fight against that, just live with this as if u like playing SRO u have to accept this as its part of the game.

-Finally about the "happy gaming" vs "dumbass drama", or the "dont like-dont play" vs "this is BS" big argues, let them be as they are part of the game too, if they wouldn't exist this forum would have no reason to be. And for haters, my advise is to save that anger for mobs and get stronger ur chars and then pwn them all, u will see how fastly anger dissapears when u get some cool victories :wink:

lol it dont matter what games it is online or off line. pay or free..

look at Americas Army.. free to pally fps. not bad, but there is lag issues and the infamous script kiddies using various pc helpers to up there honor.

look at sro, same thing, you got a share of whiners and complainers.

its doesn't matter what ur playing, there will be lag, cheats, rude and otherwise obnoxious players on every game. and they are from around the world.

its human nature to trash talk when behind a keyboard. its easy and you feel safe. heck we all did it at one time..

you can complain to a free game company all you want. but why would they listen to u? your just one player?? they really dont care, your not gunna upset the profit margin, so your a fly.. so what do players do? find forums and whine and cry. again its human nature.

now look at pay to play games.. you have to pay a monthly fee to play.

sure there is lag, but in my personal experience, i get a tad more weight with customer service in my pay to play games. they listen and help. why? cause im paying there paycheck and light bill.

and the arguments could go on and on. but its jsut boils down to one desire..

thing.. we like our games to be perfect to fulfill that need., that desire.. that void.

for example i play ghost recon on my pc for yrs. never went online with it. i thought i was a bad ass.. well one day went online got owned. lol
happens. so what i had fun and that was my need to have fun.

Well.....I'd be out 20$ each month. And....I'd expect more timely "fixes" to certain shall we say "issues". Thats my 0.02$ on the topic.
