My posting rate has decreased exponentially. I used to come here every day and post every time I was on. I enjoyed coming here and just talking about silkroad. Now I can't even stand to go here because of all the useless nonsence going on. I get on SRF maybe once a week or less usually. It's Farking disgusting what some people have done to such a good website. I agree with Nightbloom on #5 1,000%, I've tried to help these forums as much as I can, I send bad posts to the mods in PMs so they can be locked. I don't freaking post in them like all the people that just post BS and flame and say it's going to get locked...No shit? I've never flamed, or swore anybody out instead of logically discussing it. Most people are hurting A LOT more than they are helping.

I love people that post exactly what I'm thinking. And this is coming from a 12(?) yr old. He sets an example for us all.

@ thread starter: this is why you have a team of mods. if you scroll through the first several pages of threads in this section, you'll see a large double-fistful that i've locked for being exactly the type of threads you are referring to. i don't mind that i'm seen as the "power hungry internet dictator" on the board, because someone has to be the one to deal out the hard knocks. when Demarthl and i were a mod team, he was the bad cop and i was the good cop. now that he has stepped down as a mod, someone needs to be the one to do the hard work publicly. Ryoko offered me an anonymous moderator account months ago, and i declined, because i think people have a right to know who is editing, locking, or deleting their stuff.

a few months ago, i used to read every word of every thread started on this board, checking for violations, posting in every topic, and generally being a presence on here instead of just a force. these days, i only ever read ones that look like they could be problems from the start, and i lock what needs locking, delete what needs deleting, and make no apologies to anyone about it. and you know how many angry PMs i've ever gotten about my actions? i can count them on one hand, after nearly a year of moderation here.

my message to those who think this place has gone downhill is this: change it. step up. post good topics, and don't post in bad ones. if no one ever fought flames w/ flames, we wouldn't get attention whores like those mentioned elsewhere in this thread, there'd be less locked topics, and less people would stop posting here, disgusted. don't start flame topics. don't even read them. i'll lock them as soon as i see them, but i work 60+ hours a week this time of year. PM me things that need attention. PM ALL the mods things that need attention; one of us is bound to get to it asap.

don't sink to the level of those you complain about. don't let them get at you, get to you, or beat you by causing you to lower your standards. this place was founded on high standards, and we have it in us to return it to that place. do it. no excuses anymore.

content has dwindled because:
a) people have left SRO
b) bots/ccfs/hackers increasingly taking over due to JM -> more complaints

IMHO, SRO cannot be saved by ignoring problems or locking complaints. what Ryoko said is right...locking and banning legit players complaining about bots/ccf/hacks is going to be WORSE than JM's neglect...

i was naive and went for the events and updates but it's still pointless. in a game centered around PvP, completing with bots, ccfs, and hackers is like an opponent focused on BLATANT cheap shots and low blows while the referee is vacationing in Cancun. SRO is also premature in the Triangular Conflict when trading, hunting, and thiefing are not profitable and not rewarding. there is also no sense of accomplishment when wars and jobs have no meaning. onward, the item mall creates too big an advantage over any non-silk player with gold tickets, monkeys, and astrals resulting in non-silkers quitting before level 50. finally, the server capacity is WAY too small and the monster areas and monster spawns are WAY too few to accomodate a decent community.

so i'm basically about to throw in the towel. i'm level 70 and bored out of my mind and only do a few trades every now and then for the lower levels and KIT with friends who are still leveling....

i'm sorry to everyone who loves SRO and thank all of SRF for putting up with all my rants against JM...but i just had to say it. it always seemed like SRF was kissing JM's ass.

Crayon reads these forums. I do believe they know and share our frustrations. Saying that they are off vacationing instead of working hard at whatever it is they are working on isnt fair. Why would they take the time to read what we have to say if they didnt care what it is?

I too wish they would fill us in one what they are doing. I wish we had comparable service to the other versions of the game. I wish there was no cheating. I wish Santa was real. Life and games arent perfect. I have to believe that JoyMax is doing what it can. I have been around long enough to know that sometimes you dont see all the work that is going on but that doesnt mean it isnt happening. True dat, I used to pm Sui all the time with bad threads and he would lock them within a good time. Most of the mods are on frequently, PM them it will get owned fast if it's innapropriate.

Personally, I don’t think I will loose my love for this forum, this community. That’s a funny word isn’t it "community" well what does it really mean? Well my definition of a “community” is: a social group sharing common characteristics or interests whose members reside in a specific location. Well SRF is a strong community, and three things have maintained this strong community, 1. The rules which have been structured before us, which most of us respect and follow. 2. The MOD team with our Admin’s leadership who has taken up great responsibility and sacrificed much time to maintain the community’s structure. 3. And the most important of all, the people themselves who make up out community remember that without people there would be no community. Our SRF community is made up by a wide variety of different and unique members, with many positive contributors. However of course, we, as in any other community always have those who contribute negatively to the community, whether it is intentionally or just on occasion. And of course there are those who post, with the soul purpose of infringing the rules which were set up for the community.

Well we all know that there can never be true harmony in a community mainly because it is conflicts that bring people closer together by allowing them to unite and re-enforce each other to defeat a common “enemy”. And a community with no conflicts well would simply be a truly boring community. However when people, even if it is simply one decides to ignore the rules that have been created to protect the community, it can create a dominoes effect with major impact on the forums. E.g. one person decides to openly flame another, their reasoning “well he deserves it, and besides its just one flame, not that big” well what about the next person the read your post? Wouldn’t he be thinking? “Well he got away with a lil flame, I may as well I mean its only two small flames” well congratulations you just started a fire storm, slowly growing little by little. Until it completely gets out of control. This is only made worse by those, who, although it’s not their soul intention get pleasure out of fanning the fire.

Well SRF has a reputation, as the most respected SRO forums on the net because we have a strong set of rules, because we have a very capable mod team and because we have a great community. And yes its true that SRF’s recent tone has not been a good one with a moderator having to act boldly in a very strict manner, and I’m sure he did not enjoy that but was left with no other choice. Just remember that, a mod and admin can only do so much to keep a community a good one, but the community itself can do so much more to keep it a clean and friendly one, which is what we all think SRF as.

As it was mentioned before. Post good topics, and don't post in bad ones. If no one ever fought flames w/ flames, we wouldn't get attention whores like those mentioned elsewhere in this thread, there'd be less locked topics, and less people would stop posting here, disgusted.
