Is strike and smash worth it?
Is strike and smash worth it?
Hi all,
I am a 4x STR Hybrid Glaive/Fire. I started a new character going for Full STR/Blade/Fire and others for buffs. I farmed about 4k sp then got very bored of it so i closed the gap to 5. Since I have no KD or stab attacks the only ones I have are chain and strike and smash. (I already ruled out the throwing blade attack because it doesnt do much damage and also Im planning on getting the snake sword attack). But when I do hit a higher lvl is strike and smash worth lvling up. Ive heard from some people that it is a good attack to link the two chains together, but is that necessary. Since I am new at blader I would like alot of opinions from especially high lvls.
Thanks for all the future replies.

I don't think strike & smash is useless. Go for it. The 2nd book is in fact a lot stronger than the 1st book. And the 3rd book gives you 2 hits, and you definately can't go wrong with 2 hits.
And I wouldn't rule out the blade force series. It is the weakest bicheon tree, but the distance attack will come in handy with mobs. Not so much in pvp, but I use it to get mobs' attention sometime.
I've seen a lvl 51 pure str blade user in my union use blade force against mobs in almost every attack. He puts up good numbers. But that's just my opinion @ lvl 34. Take it or leave it.

its good for a quick, good damage strike when your other skittles are coolin down and when your low on MP
good damage, quick strike, and useful for linking for combos like smash then chain or sumthin i dunno just experiment but u should definitely go for it

thats only skill i use when i grind
evil cut> crosswipe > strike - minimal mp usage, and kills the mob, but thats with my wolf aswell
i got my devil cut, but i dont need to use that yet for the mobs am grinding on
yes, i find it very useful for links aswell
devil cut > chain > cross wipe > KD
basically no start up delay if u hold onto the skill before the previous skill finishes

I couldn't agree more. I use soul cut blade all the time with my blade. That and snake sword dance. The ranged attacks come in handy when fighting mobs around players that use a bow. At least this way I have a chance of hitting the mob before they do with their bow. Of course, they could hit it anyway and KS me, but the ones that don't KS will at least see sooner that I'm attacking the mob and will move on to a different one.
Aside from KSing bow users, the ranged attacks help to speed up grinding for a blader. We level slow enough as it is. We don't need the added time of having to run allllll the way to the next mob. Call it to us instead

Personally I love my Strike N Smash. It does just enough damage to be useful, but still uses mimimal MP. Although I don't use it much because I have the Stab N Smash and that does more damage. Stab N Smash with a knock-down hit will take out Archers which I am on now so I'm happy with it. But anyway, the Strike N Smash is some quick damage to link attacks. My vote is nab it!
if you wanna grind fast you should really get the soul blade series (i think thats the name)
it makes pulling in mobs soo much easier...
haveing a mob meeting you half way instead of running all the way to it makes it SOO MUCH FASTER!!!
not sure about the strike and smash series... but cross-wise smash looks awsome... so i say get it!

Yeah soul cut blade is good for pulling a mob in... but I like snake sword dance for pulling THREE mobs in

thats because strike/ n smash series arnt high damage dealing skills, they are fast and saves mp.
i laugh at all the people using chains for each mob, have a nice trip back to town to repair

100% durability increase FTW
So the blade will wear out quicker, but with 100% durability increase, the blade will last just as long as, if not longer than, not using chains on a blade without the increase. Also, that's why there are repair hammers, for those long hard grinding sessions.

Worth it, for sure. Excellent for fighting green/blue mobs since it can give a good amount of damage with almost no sps usage. The lvl 1 book is good for linking things together, yet the lvl 2 book isnt. Not the most commonly used pvp skill, but when both of your chains are recharging and you dont want to knockdown(giants w/ friends) is a quick low mp skill. It will cost u 8,578sp to lvl this to MAX on lvl 70, but compared to the other skills, that is relativly low.

^Thanks 0l3n!
Gone. Never really gone, but never really here.

i'm leveling on black robber bowman and im using this skills..
evil cut blade> billow chain
then transfer to another mob using this skills again... if billow chain doesnt finished its cool down im using
evil cut blade > blood chain
my mastery is lvl36 though...
strike and smash isn't that useful on pvp though, cuz as you see when you reach like 35+ the best way to use in pvp is KD then the FF skill and combo..
but its also helpful in mobs though...
just try and explore, and if you think that its useful then use it, if not remove it...
