Shut Down Issue

Greetings All'
I have been playing Silkroad a few weeks now and have cosistantly encountered a minor problem that I'm hoping someone out there can assist in resolving.
First my computer was custom built about 1 year ago, I have 2 gigs of matched dual channel RAM and am running a g=Force 7950 512MB graphics card.... I also close all background programs before playing.
Here is the prob..... I log out of Silkroad Game and go to "Shut Down" my computer for the night and I can NOT shut down.... my mouse responds so the computer is not frozen. ALT+CTRL+DEL does not respond and programs do not respond.
I end up using the power button to turn of my computer. Any ideas why this is?
