but i already can see an abuse for this. like reporting people who pissed someone off or something like that. i also dont know how i could proof that a guy actualy really botted. will joymax be able to see it?
i really hope all this will work. i already left an mmorpg cos of all those cheating pricks. and it wasnt easy to leave

no SRO for a few weeks would be a very, very healthy thing for me. i have an addictive personality, and i play way too much.

It wouldn't be good for me! I need my daily fix!!!!
Oh, and if they shut it down they better shut down the timers on things like monkeys and xp scrolls of course.
shutting down the server wouldn't solve anything at all. first off, the botters would just be back with newer, better bots. when one bot is shut down, two more will rise to the top. it's the nature of the beast. there's more bot proggers than joymax has.
also, what does shutting down the servers have to do with the item mall? i could see if they shut that down for a week, IF they found that the site was insecure. but that has nothing to do with the game. plus, a lot of these 'hacks' were probably not hacked at all. it's amazing the kind of information you can get off someone's computer if you want to.
as for shutting down bot sites..... well you should already realize that that's near impossible. how many times have various p2p sites been shut down? how bout console ROMs? hacks, cracks, serials, cd keys? all they have to do is get a different host name, and put it all back up again. it happens all the time, and it's all still out there. if someone wants to find or host a bot, they'll be able to. yea, they'll probably get a virus or nasty malware, but they'll get their bot, and probably get "hacked" too.
don't get the wrong idea, i'm not saying i like bots or anything, but getting rid of them is going to be pretty difficult, if not impossible. can anyone name ONE large MMORPG that doesn't have bots for it? they all do, because it's easier to proram one than it is to stop one.

if someone has a keylogger on your computer they see everything you type.
As said before, the spyware/antivirus software relies on a set of "definitions" to find keyloggers and trojan horses. Since SRO is essentially a drop in the bucket of the online community, it is not likely that these keyloggers and trojans are recognized by the antivirus and spyware software.
So what can be done?
Software firewalls such as windows built in firewall and even better zonealarm will monitor any and all incoming and outgoing network traffic. If these keyloggers are trying to send the information then the firewalls should inform you of that.
Granted it is possible that a trojan could piggaback on another program that is already allowed to pass through your firewall and in that case you are pretty much screwed.
Bottom line, do not download anything about SRO you do not trust.
whoa whoa whoa... i havent said anything for awhile sooo...
@Geobot
yes botters cannot be stopped... but the fact that there are botting programs out there is not the reason why i would/would not want them to shut down sro... its the fact that there are literally thousands of players who are doing so at this moment... someone needs to update that GG and take out that "complex" ISRObot 1.06... yes another one will soon comeout... but be optimistic... think of it as taking the noob botters out first... the ones who dont do anything but download and run a program... I KNOW YOU ARENT FOR BOTTING... but we/they need to at least attempt something new right?... because what has done before/now... doesnt really seem to be working... lol i went on a forum today and someone said that disabling bots would "ruin" the game... there are a lot of them out there... theres about 50 people right now at http://www.g*****p*****.something (which seems to be the more popular one)... psh and its not even a server downtime...
@AJC
my computer wasnt hacked... or i hope it wasnt... o.O... but read DM7's post... her story scares me... no bots, progz, similar passwords, keyloggers, NOTHING... the only thing that got her account hacked was her being targeted...
@Jet
ive only read of one instance... http://www.silkroadonline.org/forums/in ... topic=6954 ... its on another topic here but ecanem killed it... smart one that guy... i like how he "knows knows"...

-retiredyes, i know that just because botters can't really be stopped doesn't mean they shouldn't try. my main point was that it has nothing to do with shutting down the server for a week. there'd be no point to doing so. game companies can make a new client patch to get rid of certain bots, test it on their test servers, and then just give us a patch during the normal 'server inspection' time. there's just no reason it would have to be down for any long period of time to do that. i just kinda got sidetracked for the rest of what i said ^^
