PURE NUKER

is it advisable for a pure nuker to not get the weapon skills or level the weapon skill (e.g spear) or does leveling the spear tree also increases the magical damage?

my pure int nuker would get all three forces (fire,ice,lightning) and get all the nukes and theses nukes would be my only attacks

youy should lvl your hueskal mastery to get the hp buff, and also get some skills for show, but mainly nukes. and since your a spear, i dont really know which skills you guys use.

i only know sword INTS use nukes till other guy gets close then use kd and stab.

you use nukes mainly as a pure int, but if you go pure int you might want to use sword for the block.... but ive seen people who still pull spear off with good stamina bonuses etc. If you decide to hybridize and do spear, what will be more effective is nukes as openers, then soul spear soul (SSS), soul spear truth (SST), and Ghost Spear Prince or Mars (GSP or GSM).

A smart pvper uses nukes in reserve (opener/closer) and weapon skills for the most part. This is b/c nukes give no status effect as where weap skills do.

get fire/lite / lion shout (mini nuke)

dont get ice nuke for its low dmg / not ask gd

get spear skill or sword skils depending which weapon u use. its gd for pvp....spear = soul spear/ ghost spear so u can stun and cancel attacks so u hve time to nuke or run.

Sword = kd and stab

a pure nuker nukes, you have no need for weapon skills (heuskal passive is an exception). In PvP use KD/stab if that's your build, otherwise no weapon skills. Why the hell would you use soul spear? nuke, shout, nuke, shout, shout, shout.

as for status effect I sincerely hope that you imbue your nukes, that adds status effect, if you don't you are missing out on alot of damage.

You actually get weapon skills because they're faster than nukes and can add an effect.. adding spear skills is definitely a must. Most important skills for spear would be:
- soul spear: can stun the opponent
- ghost spear: extremely fast, can hit up to 5 targets and kb
- flying dragon: it's less damage then a nuke, but faster

As soon as your opponent is stunned or kb'd you can kick in a nuke because it still deals the most damage. Optional skills to get:
- spirit crash spear: maybe for it's splash damage.. but you might ask yourself if you don't want to use another book of ghost-spear ;/
- chains: because it deals multiple hits instead of hoping to pull of 1 big hit. It's damage is still pretty low.. and as you can't crit it's not the most usefull thing you can get.
Fanning Spear Series - say, some opponent nukes you while you only have only have a little hp left and it will surely kill you if it hits. The 2nd book will give you 50+ chance to block it, and book 3 will certainly reduce it.

I honestly don't understand why you would use any of those. You do more damage with a nuke if you are a "PURE NUKER" as the title said. You can use soul spear on someone and do 3-4k damage or hit them with a 7k nuke followed up with 2 lion shouts for another 7k+ damage, which is more effective?

You do alot less damage with physical attacks as a pure int character, so don't use them, espeically since your crits will be next to useless. Try it with a friend that can survive the hits. Nuke then shout shout (providing you have 2 shouts). Then try your soul spear and a chain, tell us which does more damage. Don't forget the time it takes you to engage the other person.

Remember this is a PURE Nuker (so pure int, not a hybrid).

Don't give me the one on one BS, rarely is pvp one on one, fair or between people of the same level with the same gear it never works out that way.

ps lion shout is just as fast or faster than a flying dragon throw when imbued.

Edit: Also you are playing your character like a glaiver or someone with alot of hp, you don't have it, get your damage in fast. Kill before you are killed. Thats why so many use sword and shield in pvp for the blocks. If you use spear you just handicap yourself buy getting close and reducing your damage.

Edit 2: Also remember the mastery gap may chage eventually, you are really going to hate life if you have to delevel spear skills in favor of keeping your fire, lightning, etc at max.
