Guild-ish question

Post by Kaijah »

ok not sure if this is really the right place to post this and I'm happy for it to be moved if needs be.

A bit of background on our guild. We are a small guild of real life friends who all started playing the game within a couple of months of each other. We have approximately 10 members all low to mid level. We're all still sort of feeling our way around and figuring out how things work.

One of our members yesterday was involved in an incident that we all found very odd.

This is what happened...

He's lvl 22, still new & asking lots of questions, so is by no means an expert on the game. He was questing on chakji's yesterday when another player started following him around. The other player then started to spam him to party. After declining and explaining that he was already in a party the other player still persisted. My guildie eventually got sick of this so went into town to unload etc then headed back out to find that this guy was still in the area. He moved away but no matter where he went the guy followed. I know this guildie personally so I know for sure that there is no way that he was being aggressive/ offensive to the other player.

Now for the odd part. He said that this all went on for ages and then suddenly he was attacked. The 'stalking' player didn't appear to attack it seems as my guildie turned around and there were about 4 other members of the other players guild there. They killed him, killed his wolf and caused him to lose a lot of experience.

I find it strange that 4 other members of a guild would just randomly attack a player without being told some story about what was going on.

My question is. How do I find out who this guilds master is? Is there any way to find this out other than randomly asking members of the same guild? My guildie can only remember the guild name and part of the original players name. He also isn't sure at what levels they were.

As you can probably understand, my guildie was left rather shaken, dissappointed and very annoyed at the whole thing. I did quiz him as to whether there was anything he could think of that may have instigated this but he said there's nothing. It appears it was random and this other player was simply being a jerk.

I'd rather find out who their guild master is and talk to them about it before the whole thing turns into a shambles. So if anyone could give me suggestions on how to go about this it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks :)

No we weren't at war. lol we're not quite at the stage of delving into the realms of warring yet. We're currently looking at figuring out how alliances work but are solo at the moment.

...and my guildie wasn't wearing a cape, don't think he even knows what they look like.

Yep, I figured one of the other guilds members would have gone red but my guildie was a bit frazzled and wasn't sure. (you know what it's like when everything is happening at once? hard to keep track especially if you don't know what you're looking for.) I think he probably just immediately ress'ed in town to get away from them.

yep, I'll tell him to do that master wong. It'll get easier for him the more he gets used to the game.

Thx xmoshe, will holler if we need u:)

I think I'm just going to have to find a random member of that guild and ask who their GM is. Asked one today but I suspect they were afk. I just can't help my suspicions that their guild member who started it all has spun his guildies a tall tale about my low member. I can't let myself believe that 4-5 members of the same guild would pick on someone who's trying to mind his own business and for no apparent reason kill him.

Anyway, thx for your replies.

rofl, thx shox :)

update: I managed to speak to one of their members who knew nothing about it but told me their GM's name. I've tried pm'ing him but he doesn't reply. afk? dunno. Will try a couple more times then let it go. Just burns me that a guild with what I've seen, a lot of higher levels will pick on a low level for absolutely no reason. My guildie said this guy harrassed him for ages before he got killed. He was doing things like standing in front of whatever he was attacking so he couldn't click on the mob. He seem to be tracing him and constantly spammed his pm.

There's boredom and then there is complete jackass-ness.

I'm starting to think that decent players are very few and far between.

Well true... This has happend to me before once.. and amazingly at the Chakjis as well... But it was because a guild mate of mine had gotten into an argument with the person so he must of took vengance on the guild...

But the fact that they would murder him just because he didnt join a party is pathetic, and why spamm your friend with party invites when he has his guild to create partys with...

Exactly Key-J.

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you as well.

I thought about that too, perhaps another guild member annoyed someone so they decided to take their revenge on the 'baby' of the guild. We can't think of anything it could be tho. Rang everyone (we all live in the same city) and we're all clueless as to anything any of us may have done. I think you're probably right, one of us has probably looked at someone the wrong way. But what's the point of revenge when the people you're taking revenge on don't know you've taken it or why?

It's a low down thing to do in my opinion. My guildie is over it and has moved on so we're just chalking it up to experience and adding the guy to the list of 'don't expect any help from us ever' people. (growing ever larger lol)

Well yes thats the best thing to do.. Just move on and forget about it, youl see that during your time in SRO you will meet some real jerks but there are a lot of decent players out there.. most of which can be found here on the forums :D

did your friend talk to the guy at all? cause if he didnt they thought he might have been a bot and went "bot hunting"
thats one way to check, invite parties, whispers, trades, offers of free gold
those are the most common ways to check botters.
I'm back.

Yes thats a valid point, if your friend completely ignored the person he could have thought your friend was botting... and as so many players have decided to take botting into their own hands, this could simply been a case of mistaken identity

Yep that's definitely a very valid question and was actually one of the first things I asked him... :)

Kaijah wrote:....The other player then started to spam him to party. After declining and explaining that he was already in a party the other player still persisted....

I probably should have explained it a bit better but the spamming was in pm as he was already in a party.

We've stopped worrying about it now. After numerous attempts to speak to the guild master and no reply whatsoever we've decided they were simply being jerks for whatever reason it is that jerks do the things they do. :P

So sorry about that, i though u meant he was spamming him with party invites not PMs. So then it was just down to the other player being a jerk

No need to be sorry Key-J :)

It was a good point, and my explanation did read a little askew.

I guess we'll never know exactly why they did it unless they do it again. Which I hope doesn't happen so yep, the jerk explanation works for me. lol
