I try to make a point out of not letting them die out, but I've been away from home for 3 weeks.
With that said, it doesn't help much when I'm the only one bumping them :[ and even I run out of content sometimes.

The current state of memes is so bad it's even difficult to post in the wins the internets thread q.q

We somehow have 2-3 srf veteran hello threads showing consistently that there's plenty of the old whales lurking around, but nobody posts :[

TLDR: Unban everyone, email everyone, structure the forums towards our community, find a way to keep us going and atract new people to our place, or have a glorious death.

Well, something simple would be emailing everyone about srf's restructure and unban everyone.

Then i believe that if these forums are to survive they should keep some sro stuff and have it aside but mostly be about a community and not sro (there's no deleting topics involved, mods/admin can decide what's shown to the public and what's not).

We could decide on "maining" a different game, or just be a community forum that goes about different games that people play + real life + other stuff, something that can keep us together + atract new people to be with us.

We alredy have a great starting member base, now we just have to face the fact that we need a facelift to survive, decide on a new direction, and get going.

MEH, you guys know me, i'm a believer xD, and i rather try something/share thoughts than just let us go to waste... or we can always embrace our ending haha

First thing that I suggest would be to Merge Off-Topic Lounge, Other Games and Artists Corner back into one big OTL.
With the small community we currently have, this would diversify the content and activity you see at first sight and encourage more participation.

SRO related subforums could probably be compressed to General Discussion, Marketplace and Other SRO versions. GD and OSROV having their own little mini-subforum for guilds and clans like Other Games has for WoW, LoL and GW2.

Embracing a new game could be good, and has crossed my mind before as well, but it'll be difficult. It'll be hard to come to a consensus and MMO's aren't exactly in a good place right now. Truth be told, SRO really did have a certain flair no other MMO has ever replicated for me. I haven't played it in years, but I think back to SRO on a regular basis...

And I could be wrong, but I believe everyone has already been unbanned?

I honestly believe sending a mass-email to everyone after a re-structure of the forum as you guys suggested, is the most effective thing we can do to revive and move the community forward!

All the emails are in the database anyway, so I don't see why not


I also agree that the amount of forum sections have to be reduced. SRF is still the only forum I visit super regularly!

I think what IceCrash is saying would work to an extent. Would definitely give a jolt to the community though. I would love to join everyone in some game again but honestly I can never find anything I can stick with anymore. Plus I have the personality to join people vs actually starting a game myself.

Note I don't mean anything I said to be a negative Nancy, I am with IceCrash and don't want to see this site go anywhere.

yeah, i really feel sorry for never trying a bit harder to confine our community within a psro, or psro hunting, wich is a silkroad thing nowadays, you just go to whatever server is being played atm...

btw, i'm not at home and haven't been so i haven't been all that active

This is exactly my reasoning as well. I haven't
been all that active since ru yi deleted my account,
back in 2010 or 2012 I think it was. And tbh I thought
I'd stop visiting SRF after a while. But I never really
stopped visiting.. and don't intend to in the foreseeable
future.

There's a small part of me that wants to make an SRF discord. It'll be that chat client we never ever actually got to work, and it's more accessible than all the vent/teamspeak servers Gaige tried to get to work, since it has a web-client version.

Another part of me tells me this is a terrible idea that will remove the need for this forum altogether

though iirc it was just you, me and kirkaldi. Once in a while we'd get another rare visitor...

haha, I actually still have a conversation saved from the GSC chat, where we were raving about the Wii and the options it could provide for the ultimate MMO experience

That's gotta have been GSC. Vandango was there for sure but he just never ever said anything so I had forgotten. And Key-J definitely dropped by on occasion too, and I guess Cin did as well, though maybe even more rarely.

Oh shit, yeah think you're right. The Ventrilo server was with IceCrash, Crim and piootr and a bunch of other people playing pServers i think. That must have been the official SRF server though because I remember a bunch of mods on there too.
