It was kinda funny how they spent so much time, and risked their lives trying to get the dragon glass back, only to find out Valerian steel works too.

Side note, why did only that one big boy white walker explode when john stabbed him, while the others just got killed normally...?

Valyrian steel is crafted with some sort of fire magic as far as we know, so in this case fight magic with magic. Also, the one that exploded was a White Walker (just like the one Sam killed) whereas the other "zombies" were wights (like the one that attacked Jeor Mormont some seasons ago). Most of the army of the dead are just wights, who were once people but are resurrected by the White Walkers. The White Walkers themselves are something else entirely, we don't really know much about them.

They didnt look like just poverty zombies, maybe just because they are new in the zombie game.

White walkers = unique species,masters; can raise dead to fight for them

Wigh(t?)s = are the dead corpses that are controlled by the white walkers.

White walkers are basically frost themed necromancers with unusual limits as well as unique mythology in regards to what kills them and whatnot. Hope that helps and if not google can share more details.

Those dragons are still kinda weak, felt like it could die at any moment. I suppose at one point they will be much bigger and actually faceroll anything they come across.

You probably thought it would so OP like Smaug. I just like the way it is, I think it requires good rider and strategy to be able to use a dragon effectively. I wonder who will be the other 2 riders?

Alright so I read all the books between Season 5 and the start of Season 6 and have dedicated all my free time to tinfoil theories and researching ASoIaF. Here's what I think of S6 so far:

The Wall
Everything that happened at the Wall seems fine to me so far. There are a few inconsistencies but nothing offensive (e.g. why was Jon's body just left there, how come all the people that are loyal to Jon came out at the same time, why is Davos so invested in the Night's Watch future). But what I think is really incredibly stupid is how 90% of the Night's Watch can forgive Thorne, Marsh, Yarwyck and the others for killing their Lord Commander. It has been explained many times that if they do not help the wildlings, they will become wights and join the army of the dead, but they just don't seem to see it. Can't say much more because the show has passed the books at this point but Jon's revival was strongly hinted at in both book and show and is no big surprise.

Smelly Melly really being an old women is quite interesting. This theory has existed for some time, that she's simply glamoring herself for various reasons. We know that even though 90% of her magic is bullshit, she can glamor people. She does it in ADwD when she glamors Rattleshirt to look like Mance Rayder when Stannis orders his execution, and glamors Mance to look like Rattleshirt.

Winterfell
S6 Winterfell has been sort of interesting so far. Just when we think Ramsay is showing some form of human emotion, we get to see how messed up he really is. It was interesting when Roose told Ramsay that he had to rebel against the Iron Throne to arrange his marriage to Sansa. As we know, King Tommen legitimised Ramsay as a Bolton. Ramsay's legitimacy is entirely reliant upon the Iron Throne, so I wonder if they will do something about his marriage to Sansa (perhaps retracting his legitimacy if such a thing is possible, or naming another House Wardens of the North). I doubt they will touch on this in the show but it's interesting to think about nonetheless. Another little thing, the new Lord Karstark said that the North will never be truly held until all Starks (even bastards) are dead. House Karstark is a cadet branch of House Stark, even though it goes back a thousand years or so. When Lord Rickard was executed by Robb, he called Robb a kinslayer. If House Karstark considers themselves kin to House Stark, the Boltons should too. I guess we'll see if Ramsay plans to do anything about House Karstark.

Sansa and Theon have been fine so far. Still kind of confused that they jumped off a 25m wall and are perfectly fine, but that doesn't really matter too much. Looks like Theon is finally getting his redemption arc. It will be interesting to see where he goes from here and how the Ironborn will react to his return. It's a shame that we didn't get any Winterfell scenes from ADwD. Theon's chapters in ADwD were some of the best in the entire series and we met so many wonderful characters (Lady Dustin, Lord Manderly etc.).

Okay, I'm a little angry about Brienne. How did Brienne and Pod find Sansa? How did they even know she wasn't in the castle? It takes so much away from the decision Brienne had to make last season; stay and wait or go and kill Stannis. It seems there was no consequence for her actions, which cheapens her decision a bit. At least Ice in the service of a Stark again, and in the books Brienne also wields a shield of House Lothston (Sansa's matrilineal ancestors), so that's a nice.

Iron Islands
Well, we finally get some Ironborn stuff again. The Ironborn chapters and storylines are some of my favorite in the entire book series. Victarion Greyjoy is an absolute badass and I really enjoyed reading him. Sadly, this Ironborn stuff in this episode was a little disappointing. Firstly, we don't even know that Euron killed Balon. It's certainly possible but it doesn't happen like this in the books. In the books, Balon simply falls from the rope bridge and people suspect that it was Euron, but he doesn't outright push him off. There are many other suspects such as the Faceless Men or House Mallister. Secondly, I feel like they screwed up Euron's introduction a little bit. They tried to make him sound really badass by cramming all his best quotes into a 1 minute scene, and it just didn't work.

That said, I can't wait to see the Kingsmoot, it was a great chapter in the books and I just hope they don't screw that up too.

King's Landing
King's Landing actually wasn't too bad in Ep1 or 2. The only thing I'm not very happy about is Jaime being so revenge driven. In the books he has moved on from that. He no longer believes that killing is the best way to do things, in fact he's doesn't even love Cersei anymore. Book Jaime has reached, what I believe to be, the message of the author. Killing is bad, peace is good. Kind of sad to see him return to S1/2 Jaime.

Dorne
This has to be, by far, the worst thing that has ever or will ever happen to this show. I thought it couldn't get any worse after S5, but oh boy did they prove me wrong. So let's try to run through Ellaria's train of thought here. She believes that Oberyn was "butchered" even though it was a trial by combat and Oberyn knew perfectly well how it could end for him. She believes that the best way to avenge Oberyn, who died trying to avenge his sister and his niece and nephew, is to kill the entire Martell family. That makes absolutely no sense. Not only are the Sand Snakes teleporting all over Westeros, they are also kinslayers. It has been sad many times that the worst crimes a person can commit is incest, breaking guest right and kinslaying. I cannot stress how big of a taboo this is. And what pisses me of even more is that they handled it so casually. Just killed your cousin? Better make a joke about it.

So let's take a look at where we are. The entirety of House Martell is dead and there is no heir to Sunspear and Dorne. All that's left are a bunch of bastards who just killed their cousin, and Ellaria (another bastard) who just killed the Prince of Dorne. What do they think will happen now? Do they truly believe the noble Houses of Dorne will follow Ellaria or the Sand Snakes? I just don't see how anyone thought this was a good idea. It's true that in the books the Dorne chapters aren't the most captivating but at least they're not downright stupid. Rant over.

Meereen
Can't say I'm too happy about Meereen either. Dany's scenes in Ep1 were cringy at best. The new Khal looks like a bad cosplay and the dialogue was boring. I won't mention Dany/Dothraki anymore because I'm tired and don't even want to think about it.

Let's talk about the city of Meereen then. Tyrion and Varys' banter in S5/6 just hasn't been the same. It honestly feels like it was written by someone who has no idea what they're doing. A bunch of stale one liners and cock jokes is not the Tyrion we know from the first few seasons. Anyway, Tyrion. Tyrion's little encounter with Rhaegal and Viserion is strongly hinting that Tyrion is the son of Aerys Targaryen. This theory has been around for a while now, and I think this is pretty strong evidence. If Tyrion is not a secret Targ, I wonder how they will explain it otherwise.

I won't talk too much about Varys because I don't like this new storyline of his. In the books, he has no intention of placing Daenerys on the Iron Throne, but let's not get into that too much.

All in all, I thought Ep1 was thoroughly disappointing and Ep2 had some redeeming qualities.

I think Hodor's death was probably the saddest in the entire series. I've never felt this bad about a character dying before, usually I don't care very much because it all makes some sort of sense for them to die (except for Doran Martell, that was stupid). But it's the fact that his entire life was hijacked by Bran, from when he was 10 years old his entire life's purpose was to hold the door. Damn.
