A real job in private servers?

Does anyone here have any experience with or know how to host a private server? I can have the server hosted for about $50/mo here in the USA, the DDoS protection I haven't looked into yet but the real question is..

If I funded to get the server started and keep it running, would anyone here want to work on it for a cut of the profits? I would assume ownership but all profits would be divided based on who's doing the most work for the server, so like whatever it takes to run the server goes to me for hosting and the rest to a team possibly? I'm not looking to make a profit myself, I just really want this server.

I don't know anything about the SRO servers as far as coding goes but I have run a few other non profit servers for couple other games that were relatively successful, but then again those servers cost me almost nothing to run from my home pc, and could host 200-500 players easily (I'm talking like Runescape here and a couple others, this was about 5 years ago and I coded them completely myself basing off the client w/ java code and php)

I wouldn't be able to start the server this year, but roughly spring time next year I can, and if I do start it I'm not letting it go down.

What I want in this server personally is:
-80 cap
-50-100x xp/sp rates
-No pay2win, any silk items available would not have any effect on player versus player gameplay
-Job related SoX system, maybe not to get suns but moons for a job reward would be great.
-Democracy style updates, players choose what they want added through polls on a forum or something like that.
of course this would all be debated within the team we have if we have one.

Also you should know I'm not just some kid that wants to run a server to be a cool gm and impress all my little friends. I genuinely want to have a private server thats made specifically for friendly, legit gameplay.

I live in the united states, I'm getting a CDL this winter and I'll be pretty busy next year, but if I started something like this it would be a longterm deal. I have the means to fund the server myself so the only other thing I need is a team here.

I don't think you can host a proper server for 50 bucks a month. Not to mention DDoS protection is pretty damn expensive from what I heard.

If you do manage to get a proper server up and running I could help out (although you never know what happens between now and spring next year), no coding and shit though lol

It costs about 1.4k for hosting and ddos protection. Roughly $700 each.

You'd still need the DDoS. If he's cutting a deal I guess it can be possible yeah but otherwise no 50$/month server can host a sro pserver.

I'm going to buy the server myself, just paying for the dedicated line to the server, and then the security and DDoS. If the sro server flops I can always use the server for other things or sell it or even rent it

I know it has already been said, but you should really consider the amount of traffic you'll receive, if the server succeeds. Even with a cheaper server, you'll at least look at $600 per month or so.

All the best of luck with the server, though! Also, please remember to look into fixing all the glitches and exploits (there are tons). It'll take a lot of time. Just so you know

I just deleted all of my server files. Lots of time went into them but we sort of stopped doing it a long time ago and it's not worth it for me any more.

why does everybody want such high exp rates with a game that has no real endgame its not like wow where leveling is the boring part, once you get cap thats it you either pvp other people at cap or hunt uniques both of which you can do while leveling
